    OSO!!
Hey Radek, thanks for signing in! :clap
Yeah, it's going to be fun to re-live this ride, it was a good one. :nod

We were so stoked that you were able to join us!
    This was a killer group.

    Hi MasterMarine!

Every time I do a RR, I get my stuff down to a science and then as soon as the RR is over, it's gone.
I usually open 2 tabs and cut and paste each quote into one window.
Because I'm old skool and inefficient that way. :rolleyes

If you're only quoting 3 comments, ADV has a multi-quote feature.
Next to the regular "quote" button there's a multiple speech bubble icon - that's the multi-quote thingy.
If you click that for every post you want to quote, it will put them all into one window for you.
Way easier, but if you do more than 3 quotes with that, it can turn into a nightmare.

Especially with different colored text...ask me how I know :becca

hope that helps? this multi quote post took me at least an hour!

    Hi Sam!
Thanks for stumbling onto our crap :lol3 (haha, thank goodness for punctuation)
Sorry to hear that Idaho is on fire :cry

You can always try Colorado - man, that is one soggy state right now...
    we had rain every day.

Glad your leg is getting better! Some of those leg injuries take forever...

    thanks Mikey!

Aw, VFR - we barely started - you're still in before the good stuff :thumb

    Hi TL!
I'm so glad you found us!!
It was great meeting you guys, too.

Thanks for the sticker pic - I love it!
We got some nice shots of your group - coming up (day 5).
Maybe you can help refresh my memory about names (Wade, and ?? from Mississippi and what does TL stand for?)

Let us know if you do a ride report - we'd like to see what you found in Taylor Park :evil

    kelly

    Hey Paratrout!
    heh, thanks for the enthusiasm!

OK, you piqued my interest with the "yacht rock radio," I had to see what that was about...

There were several stations that came up, but this was the gist of it -

    Ah ha!
    In other words, KFRC.
That was the am station Matt and I listened to as kids growing up in the bay area...

    Wow, that brings back memories...
    Thanks, that was fun! :D

    hi oldtrucks!!
Matt was so good on this ride, I don't think I have any ice cream pics of him. :cry

But I do have a few of the other guys.

    Hey NobeyamaGP,
Well, they were pretty good. BIG, though.
Matt really felt them in the deep sand and loose rocks.
And they are pretty wide for tight stuff like sagebrush 2 track...

But, for a first trip they should be perfect. You probably won't be in sand.
I think you'll really enjoy them. :nod
They hold a ton of stuff and are easy to get into.
We only brought 1 of the waterproof liners (just for clothes) and we had a ton of rain.
I don't remember anything getting wet.

We had some get offs and so far, the bags have held up great.
Just don't crash on the street and you'll be fine :D

Anyone who has a Radek and/or Lica to ride with is fortunate,
    but a Radek/Lica hybrid??

You are one lucky dude! :thumb

    hey dano!
thanks for joining us again :D

    hi cdndog! :wave

    hola Jeff,
Don't worry, you're still in early! Fashionably late, that's all... :freaky

Aw, man - a pulled tooth! :cry

That sucks. No solid food :(
Yep, hope a nice tall glass of Orange kool aid will make you feel better...
    :evil

    Thanks, lukeman!

This group plays rough - some of the toys get broken

    Hey Pyrate!
    Arrrrrgh!

    Thanks for joining us again!

    Wooo!

    Welcome! :wave

    OK, you guys...

I have Day 1's photos uploaded...it was slow going.

Here's a helpful hint for anyone doing a group RR- make sure all the cameras are synchronized so that the photos all have the correct metadata.
I'm getting confused with the videos and it has been nearly impossible to get all the pics to load in the right order.

I think Lica's camera was the only one with the correct time and date.

my camera was 30 minutes off
    Matt's GoPro was 10hrs off,
someone's something said it was September...

Radek's GoPro was set for January 2012 :eek7

    :baldy

anyway, Day 1 coming up soon....

    Thanks Kelly!

Wade lives in Pheonix, AZ, Ben is from Mississippi, but lives in North Carolina now, and I am Brian from North Carolina.

The TLtrials goes back to the late 90s, I was restoring a 1974 Honda TL125 trials bike. So I was setting up a lot of accounts researching and buying parts on the internet and the alias just stuck. It is a cool little bike to tool around on, that I still have.

Don't know if I will get to doing a full on report, we never take enough pictures to make it interesting. I do have a lot of helmet cam footage I am downloading to Vimeo of various parts of the areas we rode, of course under TLtrials :D

OK, well we've got a bunch of pics so if you want to re-live some of your ride it'll be coming up :D

Reno to Ely, NV 453 miles

Well, considering that everyone was still up at 1am,
it's not surprising that we didn't make our 6am departure time...
But, we were heading out by 7. Not bad!

    Hmm. No breakfast pics.
I guess I wasn't fully committed to doing a ride report yet!
    :dunno

I do have a tire pic, though.
So, Bartek had showed up with a TKC80 rear.

It made everyone very nervous - they all said, "TKC80? ooooh...."
Scott offered one of his Motoz Tractionators (and matt was willing to put it on...)

But, Bartek declined. He said he would be fine.

(edit - that linkie didn't seem to be working right - it was the worried marge simpson noise)
    here's the face:

    The schoolbus.
    Looking very schoolbus-y

Last one out is a rotten egg!
(oh wait, looks like was us!)

Everyone had fueled up on the way to Scott's,
so we were able to head right into the dirt :clap

A map would be nice here, but I don't really have one.
Oh, here's what our proposed tracks were going to be.

Matt had routed some pavement in there, just because we had so many miles to cover.
But, with Scott's local knowledge, we ended up doing a lot more dirt than this shows.

    It was mostly fast dirt...

    With the occasional gate.

We had some moments of confusion...

    But made decent time.

A lot of the route was un-tested.

But we lucked into some good stuff.

The guys seemed to have fun...

    In the vastness of Nevada.

Here's a short video to give you an idea of Day 1...
    (HD if you want it)

The music was Radek's suggestion - thanks, Radek!
I didn't even know they did that song.
    It was perfect. :D

Goggles Pizano was pretty thrilled to show off his backyard -
    thanks, Scott!

There were plenty of opportunities to let the big gals stretch their legs...

    Our first stop was Lovelock.
Fuel for the bikes, then fuel for the riders...

    And, some minor repairs...

Bartek's Touratech GPS mount had broken.
Electrical tape and zip ties to the rescue! :gdog

Radek said, "What are you even doing with that thing?
Friends don't let friends buy Touratech sh*t!" :lol3

Matt and I usually have Interphone f5 headsets, but for this ride we got Senas.
Lica, Radek and Bartek already use Senas and Lica was bringing 2 extras for Ceasar and Scott.
He said that with Senas, we could all link together and talk.
It was a splurge, but Matt and I got smh10s so we wouldn't be left out

It didn't always work out, but when it did it was fantastic.
    More about that later...

Here Lica is getting Osito hooked up.

OK, Scott - lead the way...

    More untested tracks...

There were many lessons learned on day 1...
I don't think any of us were used to riding in a large group.

Having to space out for the dust and having untested GPS tracks made for some hiccups.
We got separated a few times and we had to work out some ground rules.

At this point, I think it was just us and Lica...

This road was super fun, but it turned out that we were off track.

Eventually, we met back up with Radek...

    and Osito.

We figured we would find the rest in Austin.

    and we did. :D

    Gassed up the bikes

    And gassed up the riders.

It was after 3pm and I don't know if we were even at the halfway point....

    Oso far to go...

    Day 1: 8/1/13
Reno to Ely, NV 453 miles, continued

We'll start with a few random Day 1 photos from Lica's camera...

We had been riding for most of the day, but Nevada is HUGE.
Scott said we had “this far.....” to go...

and had this much time to get there...

Well, we ha’d better get on it then! :ricky

The bike was making a weird noise on this road so we stopped...

It turns out the chain guard was broken.

    Gah!
Matt had just put that on!
    Broke another one. :bluduh

There aren'’t a lot of landmarks out here...

    Nice lawn!

    Hey, Lica :wave

Beep beep - the schoolbus is here!

    Hola, Bartek!

    The dirt continued.
    Sometimes the sagebrush was short...

    Sometimes the sagebrush was tall...

    We stopped to regroup here.
    Osito!!

Then, it was back on the road.

Hey, horses! It's always cool to see them out here...

We stopped here because Radek’s bike was overheating.
Bad enough for the red light to come on. :eek1

Crap. We hadn’t done any serious climbing, nor was it super hot today.
    That’s not good.

There wasn’t a whole lot that could be done at the time.
After a brief rest, the group continued.

    More gates.
Usually, I’m the gate master. My job as pillion.

But, the guys were really sweet about taking turns wrestling with the barbed wire.
    Thanks, Bartek!

We had some tighter 2 track with sagebrush here.
As we learned on the TAT, sometimes things get crazy when you’re on an overloaded schoolbus...
This part got kinda rutted, kinda silty...
and the next thing we knew, we were taking out some bushes.

It was our second time in the bushes that day.
Earlier in the ride, Matt took a corner too hot and we almost ate it right in front of Radek.
It had been a close one (I’m just glad he didn’t capture it on film).

Scott suggested that we head towards Hamilton.
    Okey dokey.

    Another gate.
    Thank you, Radek!

Matt and I had gone through Hamilton a couple times (it’s on the TAT),
but we had never seen Treasure City (up the hill).

There aren’t many ruins left in town.

It was going to be dark soon, so we all hurried up the mountain.

We lost Scott somewhere so we didn’t continue all the way to Treasure City.

    But, it was close enough.

    Hey, there you are!

There was more dirt on the tracks, but it was getting late.

    Pretty sunset.
Radek got a nice photo of Lica. :thumb

here’s Lica taking a photo of us...

As I take a photo of them...

    El Bartek!

I was starting to worry that we were going to lose our rooms,
and the guys were getting hungry,
so we slabbed the last bit to Ely.

After checking into Motel 6, we headed out for food.
    Hotel Nevada

    Interesting decor.

Matt made a new friend. Hey buddy, can I borrow a diaper?

    Osito le gusta el Indio!

Giant watermelon photo from the menu...:huh

Ah, beer. :beer I know what bigdon is thinking!

    Let's drink beer!

I don’t know what made the guys happier - beer or food?

    Maybe food. :lol3

We forgot to clear the GPS this morning. Whoops.
Didn’t remember until about 35 miles into the day.
So, I did a little maths...

    450+ miles.
    Not too shabby. :norton

    1 chain guard - Wans

    1 bike overheating - Radek
1 bike cutting out - Osito (forgot to mention that earlier)
