So today I was riding along PCH on my R100R, and at a light I guy on a Ducat in full race leathers pulled up next to me and Revved his bike a few times. I'm used to running my R75 around town, and my R100R with it's high compression pistons is no slouch. When the light changed I hit the throttle hard and much to my surprise the front wheel came up a full foot off the ground for maybe 50 feet. Surprised the hell out of me. I didn't feel out of control, just not something I was expecting. After that I played around and popped the front wheel off the ground several times accelerating from a stop in first gear. Not that much, just a few inches to get the feel of it. I'll admit it... it was a lot of fun

Later I was talking to someone at Neptunes Net and I overheard someone else say: "That's the guy who does wheelies on his BMW" :lol3

Can damage the input shaft of the transmission. Twists the front of the input. Never happened to me but that is how they got twisted is what I was told.

Sometimes my R100/7 will do a little wheelie when I am on it and I shift to 2nd.

My R100GS had a dream last night that it was an HPN like this one, or doth my sight deceive me? Is that not an R1100 FD with a rear disc? My ears tell me there are some differences between that engine and mine as well.

The burnout on dirt whilst wearing a flanel shirt is on the cutting room floor, so this wheelie wil have to do...

Engine is a stock '78 RS by the way.

The r80G/S with low comp pistons has always popped the front end right up in first. I can't get it skip in 2nd even with the r100 pistons though. I ride wheelies at ever 3rd stop sign and have never had any problems with clutch, transmission, or drivetrain.

As Jenna mentioned, if I keep the front end up for too long the oil light comes on. I burned up some rod bearings but I think that mighta been the donuts.

The scraping you hear is the water bottles mounted on the backs of the boxes bottoming out. I eventually tore off one of the water bottles.

did the same thing on saturday... van cut me off and was driving wayyy too slow. I was a few blocks from my house and really had to pee (of course getting worse as i get closer) the van moved and I hit the gas harder than I normally do and I was surprised when the front wheel came up about 2 feet.

certainly made me pucker up a bit..

Love the direction this thread is going. It feels like I'm on the verge of something, possibly a new addiction, that's ethier going to be really good or really bad.:lol3

So how about a technical question. My R100R has a Paralever, my first, so it's not susceptible to shaft jacking like the older airheads. I notice that most of the bikes wheelied in the thread have paralevers, and most are GSs. Would you guys say that it's easier to wheelie a GS, or Paralever bikes in general.
