The date isn't public knowledge. I'd love to attend someday though!

I'd go if I knew when it was. Joining VME just to get the date won't happen.

I, along with my entire club, have been asked not to return.

    There was an . . . "incident" . . . about a dozen years ago.

    Canadians were involved.

    'Nuff said.

You do know that the VME prefers to keep the TT date from being published? Do you have an axe to grind?

September 7/8 was the date I found.
I also read the blurb on the club website about this year's event, and in spite of them doing their best to make it sound like it isn't, the whole thing seems very exclusionary to me. " You're not part of our club, so you're not welcome", kind of thing.
Then I found a video of one of the rides from last year. Might have been one of the most boring motorcycle videos I have ever watched. Over an hour & a half of a bike doodling down this road, at just under the speed limit. :bore
Even if I lived close enough to attend, I don't think I'd bother.

Thanks - always great when someone 2+ thousand miles away lends their opinion! :1drink

ANY pre-IOV thread invariably becomes a disaster!

I've spoken with numerous VME guys, on several occasions over the years...never quite motivated me enough to join...yet.

Maybe now that a few in my stable are 30+ years old, they might be more...accommodating. Maybe not.

if the vme want their little gathering all to themselves, let them have it. all I got from the one year I attended was a broken mirror and a ride with a bunch of drunk assholes, neither courtesy of vme members. I'll never go back.

My response was based on what I read and the tone of how it read. As a complete outsider with no knowledge of the people or the event, I only wrote what my impressions were. I was curious about what sounded like an interesting event. Even if I lived in the area, I would still interpret things the same way.
I realize because I do live so far away, that my opinion maybe doesn't matter all that much. But I really got the impression that new people really weren't all that welcome. For many years the C.V.M.G.( particularly in Ontario), had a similar attitude towards newcomers. It was kind of an old boys club, and if you didn't share their interests and ideals, you were not welcome.
Thankfully, things have changed somewhat, and new people are very much encouraged to join. It's the only way a club or event can survive.
You certainly want to keep out people that are going cause issues that might prevent holding it in the future. I have organized and planned several events similar to this, so I know what's required, and what the results can be. But I also know without people showing up, the event can't continue on as long as you might want.
I hope it all works successfully for you.

I've heard of it over the years and was always interested, but now, like you McJamie, I don't THINK so. It's several hours away from me (which isn't all that far) but like you, if I was closer I still wouldn't go. I've got better things to do.
