Love my 1150 GS Adv. It's not the lightest or the fastest. But it is farkeled to fit me and I never tire of riding it. Sometimes wish it had a little more power, but I would probably just go too fast. Putting knobs on this summer for some rides and camping in Canada.

Good eye on the 1800. A '65 with no rust. Good machines are worth maintaining. GSA is a prime example

I've wanted a GS for some decades and finally got one about a month ago, a 2002 Adventure. Just love the bike, seems simple enough to turn a wrench on, and seems quite a capable bike. I for one, love the 1150. :clap

I don't plan on getting rid of it... but, I do plan on buying and selling more bikes as I go. The 1150 just has to stay... it's one of a kind.

139,000 miles new starter tonight and tomorrow I'm gone down the road again.

Can't wait until August when the knobbies go on and I get it looking like a proper bike again,

This bike IS my last BMW. I see no reason to ever buy another.

I really love my 1150, it now has 121.000 km on the meter. I hope it will last for many years to come.

Before reading the next paragraph, repeat after me: "I love my 1150GS!"

But I don't kid myself. Very rarely is new technology inferior to old. And it is not the case here.
I've tried the 12GS, and it is a better bike. Less weight, much more agile, uses less fuel, and so on.
The advantage isn't worth the 20.000 euro to me, so an upgrade is out of the qustion.
But if I could choose one over the other without cost, I would obviously have taken the 12GS.

If I could post a picture, it would be of my odometer, which just went over 100K miles. At 12K, the shop replaced a noisy fuel pump (with a louder one). At 45K, the rear shock started leaking (replaced with a used one for $200), Two weeks ago I had a fuel line split open on me (aftermarket POS). Now, I thinkmy plug wires are going bad. All in all, :freaky

This is a great thread started, the love seems to be alive and well. I have had my GS for a little over a year, bought it used with 15,000 miles. GSwannabee and I are going exploring into Canada this summer with TKC's for lot's of offroad. My new Zumo 660 will be here today which will help my farkle list:) Ride often and ride safe.

02 GSA Still very much my bike of choice regardless of what else is in the garage. Most of my riding buddies have now ditched their jap 4's and have 12GSA's They're a good looking bike ( love the way mine looks though ) and sure they can pull away a bit on acceleration, but other than that nothing in it. I had the chance to upgrade recently but the urge just wasn't that strong, I like my 1150 too much it would appear :freaky

My 1150 Adventure will be mine until I die. Even when I am unable to ride it.

Bone stock, never wet or dirty & only about 1,200 miles per year.

This bike will go down in history as the defacto adventure touring machine.

My guess is mine will have about 40K on it when I take the big dirt nap (hopefully sometime after 2040)

    My 1200 Adventure?

It is an awesome machine. Much much better in many ways (but not nearly as good looking as the 1150) My plan is to wear it out ASAP to make room for the 1250 Adventure in 2012.

Got my 04 1150 GS late last year and hadn't really had a chance to put a lot of miles under the tires until now. First boxer engine I've ever had and I'm still not used to the sound of it. Keeps making me think I'm running it with no oil.
Every time I start it up it sounds like R2D2 have an orgasm and won't go into first gear until I've squeezed the clutch a couple of times. It's got character.

My 2000 R1150GS and I just completed an Iron Butt SaddleSore 1,000 (1,000 miles in 24 hours) two days ago. What a great bike! A few problems over its 41,000 mile history. Still I love this bike.:ricky

The GS series of BMW motorcycles has been my best ownership experience since I bought my 1st one in 1991; a new 1990 R100 GS which I still have and which is still mint. I have since added a used 1986 R80 G/S Paris Dakar and a new 2003 and new 2004 R1150 GS Adventure to the stables.

And all that after coming off a 1986 Suzuki RG 500 Gamma, a piddly 4 cylinder, 500cc, 2-stroke that can outbrake and run circles around the 1200...more than 20 years later.
