sense of humor. The picture of the young donkey is priceless.

My experience has taught me that the things that go really wrong are the memories you keep for life.

Your ride reminds me a little of a member called Clifnotes. But you are miles ahead on preparation..

This has my vote for front page as previously mentioned by another inmate. The duke should bring you many memories (hopefully many good ones but if not at least it looks great).

    Nobody does.

    Not really.

(Least of all those protesting to the contrary.)

    Ride on...

" There's no bad weather just bad gear" Consider this: with our membership on this website, there is a lot of gear that is not being used. If you made a list of what you needed and where your next stop in a members home would be. We should be able to help.. Be sure to include your sizes. Ride safe..

Stumbled upon this one late last night. Had a good laugh, fell asleep..perfect

Anyways, enjoy yourself. I'm chomping at the bit to get out of my cubicle.

Is there a tent in that pile? If there is not or if what you have isn't up to snuff. I just downsized w/ a new big agnes and now have an extra tent, its approximately 10lbs, a bit on the large size but I think it could work for you since you are not offroading....no cost to you. I hate having it sit in my garage going to waste when it could be out seeing the country/world..plus its got a kickass vestibule to get out of this

... So I wussed out and got a hotel room to dry my gear and a cold beer that sums up my day.

First off a huge thanks to Kent for giving me a dry spot to sleep and filling me with grub and beer. I definitely needed that morale booster.

Since I was so far behind schedule I took highway 1 into mission instead of 99 through lilooet (an amazing technical road) but I had forgotten what wonderful views were to be had from that drive. Sadly I got another full day of rain and rolled into town looking like a drowned rat. Nothing a few beers couldn't fix though and we swapped bike tales, tweaked my route through northern California, and even fixed the burnt out fuse that was the culprit of my heated gear failure.

This morning setting off I was dry, warm and in high spirits. A relatively painless border crossing later and I was off to Diablo lake. Highway 20 is a great ride, lots of scenery and some twisty bits, , but runs through too many small towns to really speed much. Views of the lake were breathtaking..

I made the awful mistake of taking i5 to try and save some time, more like an hour sitting in bumper to bumper traffic getting to Seattle. After checking in at the hostel I set out to find some grub, burger from five point

And afterward an evening stroll to the waterfront for some photos.

All tucked away (not really..) for the night.

An old Shaker saying; "Too soon old, too late smart..."

As someone has already posted, it is not the bike, but the ride in the rider.... Have fun- you will 'smart' up quickly too!

My father left me with a legacy to follow. In the late 1930's, as a young man, packed a bicycle, tent and rode the Southern tip of Africa over the then dirt roads. Anything we do today is so much easier - but still fun.
