I had a friend do it a few years ago, solo. Pretty crazy how some areas almost go right through people's back yards. He met a lot of cool people though, and the scenes were amazing.

    Someday...

One of the advantages of being a teacher....

Here is my trip of a lifetime so far. Probably repeating it in 2013 but this time the little boy in the beginning of the video will be going with me.

After years of shopping, looking, comparing I've decided the only way I'm going to find the panniers I want is to make them.. Any input / help. Equipment/skill. Would be appreciated :)

Anyone interested in going to Slades next Wednesday? I need to practice some high speed sand action.

    Weather looks decent.

You should keep them for long trips.

Do you own a KLR650? If so, have you searched any of the KLR650 forums? Plenty of ideas and examples by people who have built panniers for their motorcycles.

Are you looking for hard or soft panniers? I use Ortlieb Moto Saddle-Bags on my KLR. They are soft bags, and they work well on the KLR without a mounting rack.

Yes I own a KLR650,, and I'd bet I've looked at every picture and forum of every bike there is :) I current have cheap soft bags, that I only use when I go up to New Jersey (a few times a year) and that's mainly due to me being undecided on what I want.. But I'm down to this

If I go soft bags definitely putting on mounting racks

    If I go hard panniers:

Both I think will look pretty good on my bike

I think you got a good looking bike there Friendo!

I ride a DR650 and I have the Wolfman racks that I run pelican 1430's on 90% of the time. I have the Wolfman waterproof saddlebags for when i go camping. This setup works great for me.

I plan on getting something different, as I've never liked the looks of those big stainless panniers on a bike the size of mine.
