The shoulder is a mess. A part of the humerus broke off where a muscle attaches. Some other parts are broken off and floating around. One of the major muscles is torn all the way through, another is holding on by "a few fibers". And a short list of smaller problems, a lot of them consistent with a posterior dislocation. Surgery is scheduled for next Friday, I can't wait.:huh I do feel a lot more confident with the the Doctors in Vail.

My ass, I call bullshit, you declined pain meds at the hospital and at camp the rest of that day, night and the next morning, the only time I heard you complain was that you might have kept Drew up so you went and crashed in your own tent instead of a bed, all the while with a busted up shoulder. Wish all my riding partners were like you!

That wasn't complaining, he was just being nice and didn't want to say the real reason he bailed from my palatial estate in mixed company. With a stomach full of Dale's and not much else I had a serious case of the rot gut, never underestimate the power of beer farts in a small camper! Hell, I Almost ran out of socks the next morning!

Thanks brotha, I swapped out after hitting a square edged bump. It was on a flat, easy two track and I was sitting down, just kinda chillin'. Bars were ripped out of my hands after the rear end got kicked up and it was all over. Landing in soft sand was what made it so bad. It stopped me instantly and all that energy had to go somewhere.

Thanks Brett, I think I got the best guy for the Job. I'm not psyched about traveling for the surgery but to find a guy that specializes in shoulder injuries makes me feel more confident about the outcome.

Unaweep, an inmate here and a former Baja racer himself, pointed me in the direction of this clinic. They have an impressive resume of professional and Olympic athletes that they have put back together.

Unfortunately, shoulder surgeries are one of the worst to recover from. Take it really easy and follow your surgeon's recommendations religiously for the first three to four months (when he will most likely have you do very little, and you will be very frustrated). But if you screw up in the those first few months, then you really risk not healing correctly. After the first month of strenghtening exercises, you can push yourself a bit more. Wishing you the best on the surgery and a successful recovery, and hope to see you at the '13 Mexican 1000!

The funny thing was the whole trip to the ER and every other Dr.'s office afterward felt so cliche.

I heard you were butt naked with a body paint scheme like superman and on acid, behaving like a crazy man. Jimmy, who lives under the bridge, told me this. It must be true.

So that's where my socks went that were drying on the trailer, to the big puppet stage in the desert.

Tony, do you think a pressure suit or roost guard could have helped at all? The offer to help with moving still stands, I need a reason to ride over there more anyway.
