Any reason for that? For $250-$300 you could probably get a decent sugar/homegrown/jamis/whatever Craigslist find. I understand it probably won't see a ton of miles, but I always feel like that acera/tourney parts group is basically made to fall apart.

    Can't beat the price!

I've had friends who rode Airborne bikes and beat the holy living hell out of them without any issues. The components are certainly on the lower end, but they'll be fine in the short term and are easily upgraded when they wear out (if they wear out before she tumbles down a mountainside and decides she's not into it). I ran mechanical disc brakes for years without issue, and actually preferred them to hydraulic discs because of lower maintenance.

For that price range I would definitely go used. Heck I would go used up to $1500. With bicycles you get way more used unless you get pro deals.

If you come riding in Rifle, bring your own gun...

This happened to a friend of mine. He left his bike behind a tree for 10-20 min to do a little hike and this is what happened. Fucked up.

"Shot bike: Deputies responded to a criminal mischief in the area of the JQS Trail and Hubbard Mesa outside Rifle on Nov. 25 at 5:02 p.m. and learned that a man who had been mountain biking and had left his bike. When he returned from his hike, the bike had been shot multiple times."

Wow....if that was a nice bike than he could be out north of $4k! Hopefully he can salvage most of the parts and just get a new frame. :huh

It's an all mountain, but it's slack as hell and good for some big hits. :deal
