He also made me a spacer for the swingarm linkage. See the shiny piece to the left.

Here it is with the front end on for good. The swingarm is on temporarily while I figure out where I'm going to route the shocks remote reservoir and hose.

It's all good, Steve. The axle's squared away now and I'm going to run an aftermarket speedo like a Vapor or something, so I'm not concerned about a speedo drive.

Great build report. I watch with great interest since my winter project dream list is USD forks and rear disc. I have already scrounged the pieces necessary, just lack the ambition and opportunity. I have a set of 94 CR125 forks I intend to use. Did you change spring rate?

Keep up the good work and documentation, maybe you will help motivate me

    Thanks Dave.

The springs that are in the forks now are Eibachs but I don't recall the number on them. :shog I'm gonna go with what's there for now and change later if need be.
The shock I'm planning on having built specifically for this bike. I'm going to try out a local guy who says he'll give me the same deal as Race Tech only shipping charges won't be involved. Plus, being local will be nice if there's fine tuning to be done--which there probably will.

Here is how i routed mine
    [IMG]

It's pretty much in the same spot as the XR, but there is no tab for the clamp. I just used a hose clamp to secure it to the frame. The carbs and boots are off in the pic, but there aren't any clearance issues. hope the pic helps you, glad to see you're making progress!

I'm probably going to mount mine on the left rear frame rail ala Yamaha TT600. I'll have to build a longer hose and mount bracket but it should be a factory looking set up (at least I'm hoping :lol3).

I used the same shock on my XL and mounted it in the same place. My variation is that I just used one larger hose clamp around the shock body and frame both. It stays put very well and has been mounted that way for years.

I did respring it finally years ago and that made a tremendous difference.

Here's the simple but effective bracket I came up with to mount the reservoir.
Please ignore my craptacular tack welds. :lol3 I'm taking it to work to get it welded right.
The bolt holes are offset because of where it mounts. You'll see later on.

No, nothing to do with the airbox. :D

Here it is properly welded with a couple coats of Dupli Color semi-gloss black.

Naw, keep em all if you can says I :rofl

So, what is the tool of choice to get the valve cover off the bottom of the external reservoir? My spare shock needs servicing from my parts XR5 and it still has the stock, domed cover press fitted on the end. I've tried to remove it once before, but didn't want to further risk injuring myself with the tool I was using in my lame attempts to pry it off:lol3

I honestly don't know how that end cap comes off. Is there maybe a snap ring in there or something?

    Thanks Ivan.

Anybody have an extra set of grommets and the steel collars that go in the frame to mount the top of the rear fender? I need a set and they're NLA from Honda.
I'd be happy to buy them from you if you have any you'd care to turn loose of. :D
