    This whole build is awesome.

If you didn't live on the Wet Coast, Mrs. Stain and I would have offered you some graphics work as well...

PM me if you want any small stuff and we'll see what we can do in the short term, before you leave...

Lots got done so far this weekend. Again, Ray is on fire and he finished up some additional skid plate protection for the fuel tank.

    And Ray's beautiful seat mounts..

Ray was also concerned about the exhaust pipe heat shield collecting debris and rocks and working them into the drive shaft which is just above. We checked, and there was already some debris up there, so it was decided to remove the thin tin heat shield.

On Saturday, Ray let me know that he loves doing custom stainless exhaust systems...and he has decided the race Subaru needs some help in this department. We will be doing some cat elimination (for our closed course racing, of course). Ray already successfully modified the exhaust to tuck it up tight, and if you look at this photo below, getting rid of the cats will help us gain a good 3 inches of ground clearance, as they are the lowest item on the car.

This should be done by next week. Getting rid of the cats (for closed course racing, of course) also made David the motor man very happy, as he has wanted a free flowing exhaust since we started this project :freaky

We also re-did the submarine straps on the car...as the way they were, my nuts could have gotten ripped off because the bolt sat very low below the car :eek1 Yeah, that was fixed. My photos are blurry, rushed cell phone again.

Well, David came through and found some stock fog lights at the pick-n-pull so the race car is now symmetrical!! :freaky

Tomorrow, Lonnie and I will be working on the graphics on the car all day. So, today, I spent hours cleaning up, removing scratches and waxing the car and mocking up some ideas. In one of these photos, you'll see a number plate from the SL350 mocked up. I like this a lot but may just use a sticker instead of the real plate...although, I like the idea of screwing the plate right up on the back of the car.

The next time you see the car...it will look very different...and very racey!! :clap

    Woah, Woah, Woah!!!!.............

....You NEVER wax a car BEFORE you put new graphics on it!!! (haven't I taught you anything???) :fpalm

You DO want them to stay on....don't ya??

or am I just reading this wrong??????

    Holy Smoke Patrick!! :eek1

    It will be ok.....

Perhaps wax was the wrong word. How about, Cutting Agent? Compound? I had to get rid of all of the crud and debris that was on the paint otherwise the vinyl would have looked like crud.

I suspect Lonnie will prep the surface to make sure the graphics stick......that vinyl that was on that trailer I sold you stayed on perfectly for three years :deal

This is looking awesome! I can't see one on the street now without thinking of yours and the potential they have hiding in there.
Quick question, are those spacers hub-centric and lug-centric?

How about some bullet hole stickers... on the front of the car:eek1

Following this thread with enthusiasm! Reminds me of taking my brothers Justy to the sand pits and snow mobile trails for a summer. Nothing like catching air from driving up the side of a sand pit and into the woods. Car didn't last too long for us.:lol3

OK....well compounds and cutters are ALOT different than waxes!!

I've had more then 1 customer show up for a graphix job, and say "Look...I even gave it a fresh waxing for ya!!" :deal :yikes :becca :kboom

Folks have no idea how much work that takes to remove a wax job. Nearly as much as it does just to put one on!!

    carry on......:1drink :norton

Just a thought; If the back window is not used (shield behind front seats), why not use the giant rear glass as a "billboard"?
The sponser stickers could just go on the front quarter panels, just behind the front wheels and keep the rest of the body sticker free (except the racing #'s)...

Here's a couple of interior shots since I got the center console, the seats and harnesses all in:

Ok, so it was a long day at Lonnie's as he worked on getting the "base coat" of graphics on the car. Lonnie is old school and doesn't do vinyl wraps....and I don't have the coin to even think of getting it done. Lonnie and I worked out a design idea and he came through like he always does. So this is what he got done today:
