Hello, I have for sale two different options for WR250R and X owners. A smaller rack predrilled to accept a Rotopax mount, that is designed to be non obtrusive when not in use yet fully funtional. Also a bigger rack that is compatible with Givi's monokey system, which is also Rotopax compatible in the same respect as the former. It is about 2.313" wider than the smaller rack but same in length and thickness(.500"). Both are available in either bare aluminum, anodized clear, black, or blue. This is the smaller rack. The Bigger.(Bare finish, with Givi mounting lug kit - not included) Both these racks can be found on eBay and there are separate listings for the small anodized and small bare racks. If you are interested in a Big Rack without anodizing contact me directly through the forum or via eBay message. Of course more pictures can be seen on the current 3 listings for these. Thanks!
You can see a bunch of additional pictures ... in his thread on the WR Forum .. http://wr250rforum.forumotion.com/t6640-new-billet-cargo-rack-available = = = = = = Also ... I had Jared make a custom plate for me (for a different application)... turned out GREAT ! Thanks - Jared ... : - - -
The small rack weighs about 1.5 lb, the Big Rack weighs a little over 2 lbs. The bolts and mounting spacers add almost 1 lb to the total weight.
Jared, have you had any problem with the Givi box not fitting? I bought your big rack (love it) and the mounting kit from Altrider and find that my Trekker topbox won't fit. It seems like the rear latch needs to be about 1/8 to 3/16 further back. I saw on the WR forum that you had put the same Trekker box on your bike, so did you have to make any adjustments? Steve
I noticed this as well Steve, Its not that the location are incorrect but it seems to be extra tight fit on the front lugs. I have to give mine a good push to get the case to slide on far enough. It didn't bother me enough to mess with it a lot. But I did try putting the thin washers that came with the kit and putting them between the lugs and the rack. That fixed the clearance problem and makes the case snap on easily. I think that alt-riders front lugs are probably out of tolerance in there machining. I had used a lug kit that belongs to a friend that came from Happy-trail.com and it was not an issue. I hope this helps and let me know if there is anything I can do to get you fixed up.
No, I don't know of anywhere that you can buy them apart from the catch block. Although I must admit I have thought about making my own hardware since I noticed even the holes in the block are tapped crooked. The best advice I can give you is using a washer under the front posts. A smaller one than what they supply would be ideal, even a small O-ring may work well for the task. I could try putting an o ring under mine and let you know what size fits best.
Hey Steve, I got around to fiddling around with my setup yesterday and found that placing a #009 size o-ring between the rack and the front studs works well, aiding to the smooth attachment and detachment of the trekker case. I squished the O-ring down to about half of its thickness and that worked out about right.
Just an fyi... I just put the Givi B33 monokey on the rack using Happy Trail's mounting hardware. It is a tight snug fit, but it all works together. I ordered the mounting hardware over the phone so I got a break on the shipping and order only 1 set of mounting hardware. Their kit online is for side racks so there is two sets of mounting hardware... Thanks!
I'm bumping this zombie thread just because I just found it and I am in awe of the beauty of this guy's Givi and Rotopax compatible WR250R/X cargo rack... I almost bought a Pro Moto rack before I saw this. http://www.scaggsmotodesigns.com/wr250r---x.html
