Yay Yah Mike! Monty Python style... John Cleese, Minister de los Turista Cops. (sending in my dollar donation)
A ton of regulars on the thread are in Austin for the MotoGP this weekend. They've come from all over including Mexico and Canada. While all are motorcycle aficionados, I really know what they came to see In other news, SR will be taking his brand new WR450 back to Mexico Sjoerd did an open lap on his Strom and set a course record We are all appreciative of Schizzman's seat license which enabled us to get great tickets Track food is priced at Ducati levels Jimmex spends all his time with the paddock girls
Caught some of the action at the MotoGP on the big screen TV at Fritz Cafe on the malecon here in La Paz. Seemed like it must have been qualifying, didn't look like they were racing. That being said... those guys are completely nuts! Way off the side in some of those turns... bikes at unbelievable angles... the audio was not on on the TV so I know little about what was going on... except for one Honda and one Ducati I don't even know what kind of bikes they are, too many sponsor decals, or what displacement...can someone clue me in... not much about the bikes on the website... coming into one turn they were putting their left leg out, sometimes foot to ground like a flat tracker... what's that about? stabilization after hard braking for the turn? the camera didn't really follow them all the way through the turn but it may have been the first of S turns. Quite a beautiful track they have built their in Austin. Is that where they had the F1 race?
Just so you know, Magdalena de Kino, Son is safe. Cleanest town I've ever been to in MX. Only complaint was the food portions were too small. Had to eat multiple times to maintain overweight goals.
Hey Tricepilot, SR, how are you guys? still up to bad stuff I see, might be back down to see you both this winter! The plans are heating up all ready.
Mexico 1...240 miles of mostly flat, boring, hot, two lane until about the last forty miles and then it gets interesting...you descend from the plains through the mountains on some beautiful twisty road...nothing at Puerto Escondido but a marina. Someone has put a lot of money into infrastructure there recently...concrete roads with street lights...curbs...big leveled tracts...looks like it is poised for development...Loreto is a sweet little town...not going to have time to do it right...some interesting buildings, inns and restaurants
Thanks go out to my good friend Percy for getting the shot on his Sony camera. This was taken during Friday's Pit Walk at the end of the day. More pix and vid coming.

135 miles with a long lunch stop in Mulege. The ride from Loreto is nothing short of spectacular. Almost 100 miles of nice windy roads, views of the Sea of Cortez, mountains, cacti, and many many vados. You do not want to be riding on this road during a storm or immediately after one. Torrents of water come rushing down off of the mountains and take the road out or leave debris in it and there a many of these washouts. Most of them are repaired but you can see the evidence of how violent a water and debris flow can be in these arroyos. I think I only crossed two, maybe three spots where the damage had not been repaired. Mulege did not impress me. I rode out to the lighthouse and found a little restaurant. The other two gringos there were from my town. Imagine that. Pretty damn big odds against that. We had a nice talk and great lunch and I rode on. Looked around the town a little bit... maybe there is a beach and I missed it... it was not a place I felt that I wanted to hang out. Stopped at Hotel El Moro just before Santa Rosalia. It looked great and is pretty nice, 480 pesos for a single, but there is no restaurant and they had only one f'ing beer. I look forward to a restful night and early start tomorrow. Almost forgot: from Mulege to Santa Rosalia... hot and boring.
I must have been about 100 feet to SchizzMan's left. MotoGP weekend=more fun than F1. Gotta say the teenage rookies might have given the most exciting show. Seven of them in the lead pack, duking it out on the 250s! Fun to watch. And who knew a 250 could do 140mph?
