Do I need to pay in advance for pitching a tent out there? If so, where?

Looking at the first post I don't see anything about it (other than donation there), but I'm feeble-minded and may be looking right over something and would like to pay if I owe thanks

You can pay Herb upon arrival. He prefers cash as his ghost town isn't set up for credit/debit.
If you want to partake in his cooking, you need to call or email Herb to reserve your meals.
Looking forward to your report getting out here.

Looks like I have a maybe from the fiance. I will be tenting with a car and open trailer. Is there room for me?

Looks like 10 bucks a night with showers and bathroom. Right?

Gah,, will have to buy 2 aftermarket big tanks for this! 110 mile range wont work!

Hi if you email Herb per post #1 he will call you with ALL details and then some. SUP NICE guy. I plan to ride in from FL and camp, and although my KLR holds it share of fuel I figure someone might run out and need some and I had the gas can in the garage anyway. Here's a simple solution for more fuel. The Rotopax gas cans are fairly cheap and simple to mount or just strap under your cargo on the rear seat.

I could have easily done another gallon the same way on the other side rack too.

Refused to pay $40-50 for the "factory plate" to mount my spare fuel tank onto the KLR. This project then went "KLR on the cheap" style[IMG]

Instead I got $16 worth of parts/nuts/bolts and fab'd my own.

I usually shop Target, but Teressa finds this cutting board at the Wal-mart store
    [IMG]

So under the knife it goes..... and the cut off pieces fall right into the recycle bin. Not that I'm all green like that....

Couple of dollars worth of Ace Hardware bolts and these weird rubberized straps that allowed us to bolt a flat object to a tube and we're there.

Added the part of the rotopax tank that gets mounted to a plate. Then I added some padding strips for no other reason than piece of mind. Plus i like it because the rotopax/wolfman plate didn't have such =)

Now I'm ready to throw over the wolfman soft panniers on and roll. With 50-60 miles, 1 gallon more gasoline for the desert (in addition to the KLR's already 6.1) [IMG]

steveWFL I like the penny tech. My grandfather was a master at that kind of engineering. Fortunately for me I paid attention to his wisdoms.
