What did you do about the front fender? Did you remove it and make your own that would fit the new size? I have an '04 1150 ADV and have been thinking of making the mod... but don't want everything to splash up in the dash when riding without a front fender.
Woody's ROCKS! Robb, fix yer bike. Send the wheel to Woody. That W650 needs to be fixed. larger spokes...mmmmmmmm. Oldrice- www.oldrice.com
Hello Woody: thanks for taking the time to answer questions on this site. I'd like to make my r1200gs wheels black. is this better accomplished with hard anodizing or powder coating? which is tougher in terms of avoiding rock chips, etc? do you offer either service? thanks, bp
i prefer hard anodizing ,,it doesn't mess with the oem heat treatment and doesn't chip...little scratches can be concealed with the use of a sharpie... we provide either service,,it entails an unlace rim inspection for true and fixing prepping if necessary,,,strip old clear anodize off and then re-anodize the color you want...you'll end up with a semi satin black sheen,,,if you want the rims to look more shiney ala Excels you have to pay extra to repolish the rim... currently satin black runs $60-70 shiney $100-120 per rim plus unlace prep and x-relace and true $180-220{depends on how much grief your wheel gives me in the unlacing/prepping process}
just perused your site will offer any help i can and link ya to my site as well,,,, am also learning all this HTML kaka...well my kid is anyway.. thanks for the kudos,,,don't ever forget...'it takes one to KNOW one!!'' ...woody
Woody, Have you seen many 21" front wheels added to 1150GS Adventures? If so, does it fit under the fender or what fender mods do you see made? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the info Woody. any idea on weight of these wheels so I can estimate shipping from so. CA? thanks, bp
if you'll search for ....1150 GS 21'' front wheel report,,, posted by 'yellowpig' you'll have more than your share of answers and picks pm him for the details,,,the 21'' wheel fits in there with the TKC-80 knobby no problems provided you do not tackle real muddy terrain,,,in which case mud can build up and jam between the tire n fender,,,most all the bikes if seen have removed the lower fender,,,i'm under the impression that the upper fender provided adequate protection...
Hi Woody. My problem is I am 5'3" tall. I prefer my K1200R over my R1200GS. I ride hard and I have bent both wheels on my K1200R. Can you make up some wire wheels for a K1200R.? 17".
Woody, I have a BMW F650 GS and am thinking about the rim sealing option to convert to tubeless. How well does it work? I ride mostly road with some light off road use. I think I'd rather be on a tubeless setup for road trips and such. Also, how long is the turnaround time to have it done? Thanks! Cat
Hey Woody, I hope you guys have recovered from all the weather you got! What I saw on the news looked very bad! Last year, I lowered my 2005.5 KTM 950 S about 1" front and rear. It fits me much better now and works much better with the new suspension. However, after reading numerous posts about the 19/17 wheel combination, I would really like to do this. The post by Sakurama in the wheel poll thread and your comments added to cmwoody's posts and those of Doug Matson have convinced me, that I should be buying a set of these wheels. I had considered selling my 950 and going lighter but, it serves me well for the type of riding I do with it on the street. Soon I'll be getting a TE610 for off-road use. The 19/17 wheels will make the 950 much better for me. I do not ride the bike on singletrack or much off-road. You're right about the 15k bike off-road. I live on a gravel road and ride on many of the same in my area, so it sees a fair amount of gravel and dirtroad use. I'd like to stay with black rims. Do you have the new RAD hubs in stock in blue? Blue nipples and stainless steel spokes would also be pretty too! I'd also like to go tubeless at the same time? KTM sells the new Alpina/Raggi tubeless supermoto wheels. Can you get these new Alpina wheels in 19/17? What about Superlacing the 19/17 wheels? Will my stock rotors bolt onto the new RAD hubs? My bike is up on the lifts right now and will be until the spring thaw. Do you do trade-ins? I no longer need the stock wheels, tires and hubs! Selling them outright may be better for me. I'm only asking because I don't know if you do that or not! What do you recommend? I have about $1200 to work with right now, so I'll probably need to sell my stock wheels and tires to get the rest of what I need! Any suggestions will be appreciated! Let me know your thoughts and we can work out a time frame. I'm sure we'll do business very soon, as I really want to get going on these. Thanks, Sam
send me your bent mags and i'll be absolutely sure to have the exact specs for replicating em in wires,,tubeless to boot,,and better yet we can straighten your mags,,,,turnaround for the mags is several days,,,the other a week or two depending what we have in stock,,i assume you have a 3.50x17 front and 5.5x17 rear?????
Sounds great, I get to work on it. I already replaced the rear some time ago. 6" rear but 5-1/2" would work. I will be in touch. Thanks
to the rear if it has a safety bead on the rim,,most do these days sorry the front rim i know does not come with a safety bead,,,we only seal rims that are designed for tubeless application and the safety bead is an essential component for that type of rim,,not to mention that the rims are built to more exacting standards and need to interface with tubeless tires,,,FYI,,the wheel/rim and tire manufacturers got together and agreed to certain standards that have been internationally accepted takes three days to prep,seal and cure
DRAT! And here I thought I figured out a cost saving alternative to buying a new set of wheels. Thanks for the info, Woody!
