Well you have to eat somewhere after you ride all day to get there. How about a thread listing the favorite spots of the Carolina inmates? I would rather not have national chain restaurants listed as the local ran places always have better food and service.

I'll start. Below are a few of my favorites listed in no real order.

    1. Summerton Diner - Summerton, SC

    2. Seafood Hut - Calabash, NC

    3. Beacon Drive-In - Spartanburg, SC

    4. Shatley Springs Inn - Shatley Springs, NC

    5. CLOSED - Yadkin Valley Steakhouse - Albemarle, NC

    6. CLOSED - Little Bo Club Steakhouse - Ellerbe, NC

    7. CLOSED but due to reopen - Bluffs Coffee Shop - Doughton Park on the BRP

    8. TarHeel-Q - Between Lexinton & Mocksville on Hwy64 at the Yadkin River

    9. CLOSED The Wild Onion - Randleman, NC

    10. Speedy's BBQ - Lexington, NC

    11. Mabry Mill - On the BRP close to Meadows of Dan, VA. Not Carolina but close enough for me.

    12. Frog Island Seafood - Barco, NC

    DANG...Now I am HUNGRY!

What are your favorite Carolina restaurants?

Thanks for some western NC spots. I have a few favorites in western NC but they all seem to be in Asheville. I need to bum around that part of the state more.

Tupelo Honey Cafe - Asheville, NC

Province 620 Restaurant - Asheville, NC

I stood in that line ONE time....will never do it again. Easily the most overrated place I've ever eaten. O'Dells is quicker, cheaper and better.

    A few faves:

    1) Sub Station II, College Rd Wilmington (great subs for decades)

    2) Olde Time BBQ, 6309 Hillsborough St Raleigh, almost in Cary

    3) Red, Hot & Blue, Memphis style BBQ, Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh

I saw on the news where they lost the lease on their building along with the Penguin name. The current management is looking for another building to start again under a new name. They have till the end of September before the changes take place

edit to add:According to the latest news they now have till October 24.The owners of the Penguin name decided to start a franchise after the "Diners,Drive-ins,and Dives" episode increased business
