Not too badly chopped up (as of a couple of weeks ago) : River was high at flea creek: The rain has loosened the soil and a lot of dead trees have fallen on the tracks on the western side of the range: we were lucky enough to follow some 4WDers down to McIntyres (they had a chainsaw): Further in the tracks were more washed out and the logs made it a no go Gentle Annie also had a few tricky bits and the traffic can be a hazard, I wouldn't go that way (via Gentle Annie/Flea Ck/Webbs Ridge) if inexperienced. A few ideas forming in my mind....
I'm free next Monday - what about a ride then. By the looks of it we've got a few blokes who are new to the area, there's some great runs which are fun but not difficult, in fact for the time being we'll be spoilt for choice in that category. I'm thinking tallaganda (north-south) or brindies mid-section.
Thanks for the info Stuc, some recent knowledge is much appreciated. I hadn't thought about all the dead trees with the rain and winds, there's plenty of them too.:eek1
Stuc, thanks for the update and the few pics. In a group I'd be willing enough, (cos there'd be someone about to drag my arse out of a hole/creek/pile of logs), but I'll give it a miss this weekend as I'm solo. Definitely up for a ride next Monday if there are any more takers and it'll give me a few days to sort an oil change etc. 6pm Wednesday at Edgars sounds like a plan Tinbum. You wouldn't think it was that hard to organise a piss up.
Hey this is Canberra you're talking about. We'll need to form a committee, get a focus group, do some market testing, conduct a few surveys, look at best practice, analyse past events, engage a few consultants, maybe hold a Royal Commission and after all that reach an inconclusive result and postpone the event indefinitely. But Wed 6pm sounds good. 1 Edgar St Ainslie Map here - http://maps.google.com.au/places/au/ainslie/edgar-st/1/-edgar%27s-inn?hl=en&gl=au
Residential Disability Support Worker, @ moment have Tue & Wed off, Active nights Thur & Fri, Fri double shift, Sat / Sun / Mon 0600-1400, & after that it turns to shit! Down one one worker [Bev broke her wrist @ work Friday night, we both work in same house!] so I've had to sought out six weeks of roster and I'm trying to finish the new house off, very tempting though, KEEP ME POSTED ! Cheers Baza
This one interest me! Could meet up @ Piccadilly, :eek1 then through for lunch @ Wee Jasper Tavern, whatever? Baza
Oh yeah, if anyone is also into mountain biking, I just picked up a Specialized Rockhopper 29 incher. Stock at the moment so nothing crazy, just fire trails and easy single track. I know, I know, but I really need to lose some weight and get the fitness up, and two wheels and dirt is always fun!
Just checked my roster, stuffed 'til 12-13-14 Oct, 18 Oct, 25-26-27-28-29 Oct, 1 Nov. Who's up for a ride those dates? Meet @ Piccadilly, through Two Sticks / Gentle Annie to Wee Jasper for lunch? :dg I'll be taking the yellow bike ['Kenny Krazyhorse'] Cheers Baza
I'm in to say giday . Will probably be there from 5pm as I finish work at 4pm and don't feel like riding to home (Yass) and back beforehand.
Hey Baz I've got to check my rosters when I go back in to work tommorrow, I'll get back to you. I'm planning on doing the Trout Rally as well, if I can get off work ( ). Cheers Dave
Hey DS...Hoping my Scott Genius will be out of Sydney customs and with me in the next week or so. Also need to get back in to shape after a few months lay-off so some easy rides would be welcome and check out a few potential trails too.
