For this dirt rookie that was a great ride! Enjoyed it and need to do it again soon. I had never been to Puckett's (or Leiper's Fork for that matter), that's a great area for riding.

    Thanks again Marisa (and Sloan's).

My FedEx driver (who's into offroad and knows I'm starting into it) told me about this event this w/e.

    See http://www.southernwoodsrider.com/ for info.
Sounds like a nice event. Not sure I can get away 2 w/e in a row but I'll try.

Holiday Poker Run at Loretta Lynn's Ranch

If I read it right, it looks like they are taking ATV's this time. In the past it has been 2 wheels only, and a pretty challenging trail. If it's not muddy, big DS bikes might be OK. Still don't think ADV bikes are a good idea.

All these rides I am missing...I have a lot of ground to make up when I get home. How's the weather been this year? Too cold to go riding yet or is there hope for a mild january with some off road rides scheduled? Because from the looks of it you guys have been constantly riding but I have a feeling with my luck I'll get home and the temperature is going to plummet until April :rolleyes

If it's 40 degrees or above, I ride.

I've already had several early AM departures this Fall that were in the 20's. Just as long as it's not icy, I might as well ride.

We need to do some more Stewart Co rides here in the near future. I found some new roads in Dickson and Houston Counties on the way home from the poker run this past weekend. I'm sure there's plenty more to be discovered.

Randy, I've been working on a route that runs North to South from Indian Mound down to McEwen. About 160 miles total, and I think it's close to 70% off-pavement. Easy, big-bike stuff, but still fun. I've run about 2/3 of it, and have to come up with one small route change (road that is gated by the river). I rode part of it this weekend until I had a small mechanical issue. I hope to get out and finish it, connecting all of the dots, after Christmas.

I unfortunately noted that a road I was on about 6 weeks ago has a new 3 mile or so section that was recently paved. Hopefully, they won't be out paving more soon.

Let us know when you're ready to ride it again. Gravel, dirt, pavement - it's all good to ride on as long as I'm upright and going forward!

Hey guys...a quick interruption to publicly thank fellow inmate Appalachian for rescuing me tonight.

I had just hit the top of the exit ramp in Monteagle when my clutch cable let go and dumbass that I am, I wasn't carrying a spare. While I'm sitting there trying to fish an extra half inch out to rig something up, this guy walks up to see what kind of trouble I'm having. He mentions he rides a DR and asks if I'm on Advrider. Then he asks if I've ridden with some guy called Ihatefalling. At this point I wasn't sure if I should say yes or Hell No. I confessed that I had and hoped for the best. Anyhow he happened to have a tow strap on hand and towed me the rest of the way into Sewanee.

    Small world.

Thanks Appalachian, you saved me a lot of grief tonight.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled...um, whatever the hell it is you guys do around here all night.

HA - That's pretty funny. I'm surprised that when you said you know that flamer IHF that Appa didn't cuss you out then kick your bike over :lol3,

Flashback some month ago . . . . . . When "BrokenlegRon" smashed the heck out of his leg down in one of the gulfs at SV....... the locals gave me some directions on how to get out and find the EMS station. Well I made it out but ended up finding the volunteer fire dept. I sat there forever wondering where everyone was. Finally a guy stopped by to see what was up,,,,,, it was Appa :freaky. Told me I was about a mile in the wrong direction. I mounted up and finally found everyone else at the EMS station....about an hour late :lol3.
