You can stop at Eugene, OR for that trip... The rest is rather straight, flat and too much traffic / cops.

I-84 east of Portland through the Columbia Gorge is about as scenic as it gets with sweepers.

I'll second the I-90 sections from Northern ID to Missoula

I68 from I70 to I81 through Northern Maryland, 4-6 lanes divided 65mph limit and sweeping curves many elevation changes, not bad for a "slab"

+1 Also I-5 between Cottage Grove (Just South of Eugene) OR. and on Into CA.

I-40 just a few miles west of the TN/NC state line to about mile marker 20 in NC is pretty fun for an interstate.

I think that your definition is spot on. The pics posted qualify as slab, and, while I'm sure there are nearby surface roads that would be more enjoyable, those don't look monotonous to me. That's the kind of stuff I was looking for when I first posted.

Yep. Just rode this last fall. The 50 miles north of Helena is great, too. Would have preferred to take the twistier, slower, parallel Old US 91/Craig Frontage Rd, which sticks closer to the river bends, but didn't have the time that day.

Taconic is very nice, goes up the Hudson River valley.

Get rid of all other vehicles and the Saw Mill Pkwy and Merritt Parkway (Rt15) are pretty fun and decent scenery for CT.

Are we talking just highways here?? Major Roads? Non-major roads? Backroads with pavement?

Do you want scenery, fun and twisty? There's a lot of places that are boring as hell but look real nice...

I remember driving Rt 1 (PCH) in california and hit a "moving land mass" section and launched my rental car at least a foot in the air over where the road had sunk down. That was wild. Anyone familiar with these? Fantastic Road.

This is my commute Gypsum to Carbondale every day... It's nice in the truck but I LOVE to use the bike instead.

As far a scenery goes, once you get out of metropolitan areas, I find interstate highways more scenic than 2 lane roads, views are more open and not so closed in with trees that you can't see past growing almost up to the edge of the road

I-15 heading out of Nevada into Utah, Virgin River Valley. It is a short stretch but beautiful and twisty!

Virgin River Gorge. Interstate 15's short run through Arizona between Littlefield, AZ and St. George, UT.

Another good slab stretch is I-80 between Salt Lake City and the Wyoming border.

This segment serves as a great contrast to what may be one of the absolute most boring stretches of slab in the world. I-80 from Tooele, UT to Wendover, NV.

I'll give another recommendation for I-70 through Glenwood Canyon, and I-84 through the Columbia River Gorge east of Portland, OR is also wonderful.

Agreed, "IF", you like looking at the ass end of two eighteen wheelers for 5+ hours.

Amen and amen! I loved that little two lane down by (and sometimes under) the Colorado River.. should have run the Interstate over Cottonwood Pass.
