so i hear another horror story from a buddy today who went riding at ocala last month and was wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the woods with a group of dual sports from his work and went around a corner and 2 park rangers were back there and made them stop and checked over their WHOLE bikes. tires, lights, registration, exhaust, spark arrestor, gear, etc the whole works.

unfort these guys had nothing wrong with their bikes to get fined but mine on the other hand has no mirrors, turn signals, dot approved tires, OR spark arrestor. infact, my exhaust is all butchered up due to it shaking itself to pieces on more then one occasion so its basically an open pipe with the little exhaust tip on it to quiet it a bit. i could easily rack myself up a shitload of fines if we got stopped. im a little on the fence about going now.

anybody had to deal with the authorities at ocala? are we even riding in a part where they are jurisdiction?

Hehe... Grab a cheap mirror at cycleworks. Turn signals are not mandatory in Fl. They might not notice non DOT tires, but maybe... doubt they would check for a spark arrestor but I guess they might... I think they would mostly be looking for off road only bikes on numbered roads. Dont blame me if you get a ticket though. FWIW Ive only seen a ranger out there once (the kind that carry guns and can haul your ass off) and he waved as he passed by. Havent been out that way in months, maybe they are cracking down?

Start getting some proper gear for your bike. Then you want have to worry about it anymore, and these guys wont call you a Nancy for not riding with them.

    Absolutely. 8:30am Sunday morning.
I don't think I've ever seen a ranger out there. Period.
The only time I've seen a LEO of any kind is when they were
looking for someone who had stolen a four wheel drive truck.
Then he only asked if we had seen one.
The only time I've seen Forestry peeps out there was when there was a fire.
....And they asked us to give them a shout if we saw any big flare ups.
    No problems.

Lol.. He did great for a little squirt riding that 650....if he where on a KTM, he would gave " that european guy" a run for his money....and he needs to experince heat exhaustion just once so he won't turn away water in 100 degree heat.....

Great day today guys.....Thanks again Steve...

Russ, great job on the 650 today. I will reiterate what Bruce said however, never turn down gas or water when available. Sometimes us old guys know a thing or two. You rode well, Cheers.

Fellow Wankers as always good times with a great group of guys.

Jon and Mike(DRZ) good to meet you both.

Steve, thanks again for being a terrific tour guide. You are a class act and a good friend.

    John, Fu*k You.

A fun ride and even better adventure. Somehow a good story always finds us.

Sub - here is what your log crossing technique reminded me of. :D Looked like your bike didn't want you on it anymore? You must have been 6 ft in the air when you parted ways. Fantastic. If only a GoPro was behind ya. You would be an instant interweb star.

    Cool video. Conditions looked great.

The wanker at the end of the video...isn't that the guy who drives a white van and gives out free candy in the Chuck Cheese parking lots. :rofl
