Mighty spritely "touring bike" you've got there, Hughlysses. Schpeeking of which.... Some gorgeous curves on a perfect morning.
Lovely bike - appears to be an airhead. Your friend looks like he´s have some issues with his underpants! I am spending time in Milan for work and Ive seen some modded Buells that look Stellar, I´ll take the camera next time. Nice bikes!
Hahahaaa Yeah, must be a little bunched up or something. Look forward to seeing your pics Roberto. Lorenzo
Here's the Yeller Ogre 'fore I sold it. I do miss it, but my knootsac thanks me...BTW in post #80, what makes you think I was wearing underpants?!
My little brother has a 99 X-1 Lightning. FUN bike to ride. He's got a Power Commander and a V-H 'muffler' on it that can be heard from 1/2 mi away! If it were quieter, I'd think about making him an offer. M
Yeah, they sure do. In our hearts and minds, anyway. Hey, what are all those people doing in the river? Salmon season or something?
As far as Buells go, I can't quite get into the newer ones. The original S1's are it as far as I, & many others are concerned. 'Zactly. One of the more popular rivers was closed. I had never seen so many people in the tiny town of Hope. Clusterfuck. Don't know why some of Dave Stueve's pix don't show up. ?? Some of you can see them I guess. Posts 32, 33, 35 & 42 thru 55. No pix. WTF? Dude, that Westwind is a rare bear. Those are KL5A's pix. I posted them on SacBorg. Someone, Buellbomb I think, took them over to Labusas asking if they were p-chopped. Nope. Here is KL5A on his Pegaso, same day, last New Years. He is running car studs in his tires & has been doing some winter riding for the last couple years. Now there are at least 5 guys that are doing the same thing & have taken some cold Sunday rides. I am going to give it a try on a '83 Yammie XT550. but I ain't planing on going as far as some of these guys have gone. Just close to home to lose the winter PMS. Parked Motorcycle Syndrome Studly Buells Maui, over at Labusas did a little p-chop, it's still his avatar. Might as well throw these in. Some peeps get all excited & freaked out when they see this next pic. "Oh, oh, it's gonna break." Thousands of hard miles on this. It ain't gonna break. Bars are spaced up 1". More comfortable for this old fart dirt biker . Most of the polishing would not have happened had the bike not been in a shop fire before I got it. Discoloration would not go away, soo- 1st thing I drilled. I am used to light dirt bike sprockets. This helped. Saved about one ounce on that tie bar. Not all the holes I drilled show. This piece was to porky. It's better now. I have weighed this bike twice. Am getting 385lb w/ 1/2 tank of gas. Any other weights out there? Book says 446 lb shipping weight. WTF? Does that include the crate? No way I drilled that much out of it. <<<<EDIT:<edit: =""><edit: if="" i="" drilled="" pound="" out="" of="" it="" real="" lucky=""> Magazine test weight about 425 IIRC. Forgot the KT pipe is very light. Still, what you tuber Buell guys got fer weight? 40 lbs is a lot. Even with 2 more gallons of gas, full tank, IIRC gas weight, it's only 12-13 lbs more for 398#. Hmm,-- 27 lbs under 425? Could be reasonable. Years ago someone claimed 325 lb. He was full of it.</edit:></edit:> Aaron Wilson saw some of these pix on Sacborg, said it must whistle as it goes down the road. Another guy on the board said I should post some pix in this thread. I held off for a while. Frankly I am a little embarrassed to keep putting these up, as I know that some of you have seen them before. Still, this is my favorite bike. I doubt that I would own it at all had it not been for the fact that I bought it for cheap from the guy that got it at the fire sale & made it a running bike. I was apprehensive. Expected a lot of problems. Figured I could sell it if I didn't like it and not lose my ass. Never thought I would have a bike with a HD engine. 3 days after I bought it in 1999 ('98?) for a flat 5K , with only 1875 miles on the odometer, there was a huge recall. It has had none of those recall items done. Only one problem that was not my fault. Somebody did not torque the right rear head bolt correctly & it blew the gasket at about 13.5k miles. I liked it enough that I <strike>bought</strike> overpaid for a real clean (never been in a fire) low mile '98 S1 that the guy had added a lot of useless high $$ bling. Hence some of the CF parts on this bike, pulled from the '98. The idea was to fix the '98 up like this '96 & station it at my Aunt's house in the lesser 48. Then after retired I could go down there & tour around in the winter. First ride on the '98, had real a hard landing from a wheelie. Later realized that along with smashing the goofy CF air cleaner cover I got this. Then, right off, got involved with the "Crazy 'Ol Redheaded Woman", so the '98 is 6K worth of handy spare parts in the garage. Is ok, can fix when ready. I'll sell the '96 KTM Duke & the '92 Yammie TDM before I sell the Buells. I can keep them Buells running for cheap 'till I die. In the meantime, Buell #1 is in my living room for the winter. Getting some mods for luggage & whatever. Then maybe I can ride to Dawson again. Taking the Yammie 'T-e-D-iu-M' would be eaiser, but boring. Sorry for the long bs. Sometimes ya just start me up &-- I just love my 'ol Buell the bestest.
Zat you Buellbomb? Ya made me look. I found those threads on SacBorg & Labs too. (DP back in there? ) Still got a Busa?
I've been tinkering with this 2002 X1 since the day I bought it new...seems I've spent more time tweaking than I have riding I figure I have a lifetime to play with the finished product when it's done
