Breather hose for Final Drive

Did you change more things on your bike to make it U boat like ?
Things like air intake...???

Don't know if there is a thread about proper (deep) river crossings with an airhead. And how to make them able to handle it.
Have been trying to go the same depth as a G650X can handle but ended up pushing the bike...with a flooded engine.

Can someone help me find things about high air intakes?

The vent holes are on top of the existing breather, which is around 16 1/2 mm dia.

So a bit 5/8" hose fits over it nicely and can be run up to the seat rail. Job done.

As has been previously pointed out the fumes from the breather condense inside the hose and eventually run back down to the vent so it requires regular removal and cleaning.

Not much requirement for it here in the driest state in the driest continent but it looks cool----.

It's an old idea, but it's definitely about as high as you can go.

You know, I ride soooo fast..... through rivers, I never give the water a chance to get in.

Never have gotten water in the trans, I don't use the stock speedo anymore, so I just clipped the cable at the boot and siliconed the top. It's held up for 5 years.

Here's another idea from one of Paul Rooney's bikes. I have no idea what kind of tank he fit over that though.

There is a safari tank on that machine. I have seen it before.

With a lot of airfilter changes you loose torque at low revs. I'm realy curious how this system wil change that !

Oh yeah, that's his racebike. I didn't notice that at first glance. That's not a low-rev engine in that bike. It's an R65 crank with 1000cc cylinders and pistons for a displacement of about 850 very revvy cc's.

That is Paul's race bike, springs on the headers instead of finned nuts, 'hardhead guards', flatslides, USD forks, the warning signs are there
If he does run that air system all the time (a little hard to see in the picture below, and I didn't actually notice it on the bike when I saw it in the flesh) we can ask stagehand what he thinks in a couple of months about it's performance.

Love to hear Stagehand's review about the bike. Also because a friend of mine and inmate (Dmaster) would like to do the same thing to his R65 engine.

AW- I did appreciate the photos way cool just felt a little bitchy...besides those bikes deserved there own spot.

There is a small change on the cable tie location, please go back to post #28 and see changed instructions.

I want to include where the adapter came from for future reference. Remember the adapter should be tapped for a M10x1.0 thread, the 1/8 NPT might (?) fit the banjo bolt.

I'd love to have one of those breather tube assemblies if you have any left and if they will fit on my bike! Pleeeease.

Also, I noticed some were worried about condensation build up and were routing the tube to just a higher spot, but wouldn't it be better to route that tube (and, I'd personally like to vent the tranny's speedo port as well) to the airbox?

And I had wondered about higher intakes as well (sorry for the off topic, saw the subject had come up earlier), the stock one seems perfectly poised to suck in water as soon as it gets over the block. I was thinking of making a mold of the stock cover, adding a tube to run up under the tank, and doing one up in carbon fiber, but it looks like Paul's bike has an aluminum tube. Is there a kit on the market already, or is that one of the many custom Rooney bits?
