We're kind of mucking up this thread, so I'll PM you on this. Since you are new here, make sure to check your Control Panel to make sure you can get messages from other members, and turn on Notifications so you'll get a pop-up when new messages come in.
A consideration I often think about, even if practising it is another matter, is the issue of interchangeability, plus parts that can be easily replaced, or repaired. I feel that such matters are important if heading off on a lengthy adventure to distant parts where you may be far away from the rescue truck.
Here at Motopodd, we think the SBW sidecar is really cool. It's another breath of fresh air for the sidecar industry in the UK, which is really good news. We love the visual design and despite some of the negative comments, we're sure that SBW have done their research and the sidecar will work perfectly well on the semi-rough. It is expensive though, there is no getting away from that, but what a lot of you guys in the US do not understand, is the cost of small scale manufacturing in the UK. However, if anyone likes the idea of a fresh, modern, off road style sidecar and wanted to spend quite a bit less, we make custom (bespoke) off road style sidecars in the UK from around £6500. These are built with proper off roading in mind, long distance over land trips, so we build in provision for additional fuel, spare wheel, lots of waterproof, lockable storage, etc. Well done SBW and well done HairyJohn for ordering one, I look forward to seeing the completed outfit.

SBW have posted another vid on youtube of the outfit on snowy lanes, Looks cool, not sure how to add a link but go to youtube and search "SBW Motorrad Sidecar in the January snow!!" and you will find it. HJ
Embedding for that vid's been disabled. Mostly stills, and some vid of the rig at low speed. Nothing exciting. Also the camera they used had a hard time with stutter so the rig looks kinda like it's lurching down the road, but I'm sure it's just the camera. Here's the link -- CLICK Anyway, still looking forward to some real action vids of this rig!
