Had a nice wine on your trip or found a winery on that back country blast feel free to plug it for all to see... p.s. it's not off topic cos it has "Motorcycle" in the title! I'll start with a little gem I had on Satdee night that I picked up whilst on a quicky down through the Langhorne Creek back roads. The Powder Monkey from Bleasedales.... smooth
One Sunday afternoon last September I went on a ride to nowhere in particular (new bike). In the vicinity of Noojee I came across Piedmont Winery. It is a tiny operation but it actually has a cellar door, with the lady half of the ownership behind the counter. I thought their 2004 Chardonnay was not bad. I have in mind a ride to Heathcote in April.
Pretty hard to beat the 3 bridges durif from west end wines in Griffith, and they do give the classic bike club a lot of support
I took an Irish visitor thru the Barossa one day last week. Got stuck in the Stonewaller tasting room at Rockford and was very impressed by their blended Rod and Spur but very much liked the new Basket Press Shiraz.....but I have been a long time lover of that drop. The Turkey Flat Shiraz is basically sold out after getting the same rating as Grange and thought that the Wolf Blas Grey Label Shiraz was well worth it's price too. Did I tell you that I like Shiraz?
I was traveling through the area for work a few years ago and found this place: http://www.moppity.com.au/ It's a little family affair and from memory was a rather nice, and reasonable, drop. There's a number of wineries around Young and Cowra is people are passing through, though I'd suggest the bus tours over tasting at every place. The local plod have been known to be a bit ... enthusiastic.
I had to put my glass down!!! Wait until Kipo finds this thread and wonders how long they have been putting wine in glass bottles.........
:huh Well ... I suppose the ol' Chateau Cardboard has come a long way from from being just a bag of goon in a box so why not a can.
Ahhh Rutherglen, now there is a great Adventure Bike destination, just a short deviation from Millawa
Me and my partner rode to the Coomawarra. All the wineries were great. The accomodation was tops and cheap. One of the tasting room employees was a mate of Gone Again's. Great trip, great wine...small world. Sent from my Crapple CryPhone using Craptalk
