    Thanks for asking. :bluduh

My bike died today on a trail. I had taken the horn off and the horn connector got loose and shorted on the frame, blowing the main fuse. Fortunately there was a spare mounted next to it. Interestingly, with the fuse blown the bike would run and could be bump started; but I couldn't kick start it (or e-start it, obviously). The idle speed seemed a little low and irregular, though.

Apparently the positive cable for the battery can chafe through where it's held by the frame bracket. I re-routed mine around the bracket. As a bonus, now the battery is even easier to remove. I'll check the e-start cable routing, thanks for the tip.

Also, new sprockets are on order. 12/57. Yeeeeaaaaahhhh.

They've got everything from 38 to 61 teeth rear on the on-line store, and they may be able to make bigger ones.

Wow. That combo will be beastly in tight trails, but will probably give you a top speed of about 35mph :lol3

Sort of O/T, but I've heard of more than one TE dying a premature death from a combination of highway speeds and not keeping the oil fresh. With only a quart in there, the oil shears out of viscosity rather quickly. Better keep that oil clean if you have to connect trails or spend any time at cruising speeds.

i just ordered a 12T front from supersprox

its worth mentioning that the 2012s come with supersprox sprockets from the factory .. which is pretty cool.

also, ive been running cycra probend bark busters on my other bikes. but for this new husqy my old mounts wouldnt fit the stock bars.

the mounts that need to be ordered from cycra is called the "magura" (or something like that) mount.

hope this saves someone a return trip to the parts store :D

Hey Monte, I thought the TE250 shared the bottom end with the bigger TEs, mine holds the spec below, which is actually a spec I found for a 2009 TE250:

    Oil Capacity Transmission: 1.8 qt. (1.7 l)

Earlier models, you are correct, but 2010 and newer models with the X-Lite engine have a 0.9L (0.95 Quart) capacity.

Not really.. if you plan on any extended slab, you should go the WR250R route, I almost did myself. You can make the gearing taller, say 14/48, so it's not totally wrung out at 55MPH, but you'll lose a lot of low end grunt. It's not a dual sport in any sense except for the license plate.

I read rumors on Cafe Husky of a taller 6th gear coming out in the hard parts catalog :clap if it comes true, and I already have a reason to split the cases (which I hope doesn't happen for a long time), I'll probably go that route.

New sprockets came in. Who wants to climb some hills? :evil

Unfortunately the front sprocket doesn't fit. It's for the pre- xlite motors. The rear sprocket fit (after cutting a bit off the chain guard and adding a few links to the chain) and it looks mean. :evil

Hmmmm. Maybe I should do something about the chain guide.

    :nod

It looks like you could just fab up a small piece of aluminum or steel to lower the rear mount a bit, and just pivot it down at the front.

.. well the 12T front sprocket that i ordered from Supersprox.com doesnt fit my bike.

Supersprox does not make a 12T front sprocket that will fit the 2012 TE 250

    neither does PBIsprockets.com

    anybody know where i can get a 12T front sprocket for a 2012 TE250 ?

Call one of the bigger, more knowledgable dealers like Halls or Motoxotica. They can probably order you one out of the Husky special parts catalog.

i installed a 12 port fuel injector and an ECU from the off road model.

    it has helped tremendously.

    cured the "flash out" problem.

used the laptop to further improve the bottom end response of the bike.

now running 12T front and 52T rear.

    Nice.

I went through similar machinations and it worked really well. How do you like the gearing? I like my giant sprocket more each ride.
