Look into the Strider no-pedal bike to start him on.

They are pretty cool. Lots of shops are starting to carry them.

Also look up Romanicas and now we have one state side called King of the Hammers or maybe that is the truck one but it's run in conjunction with that. It is a course laid out by JImmy Lewis who has competed in all these events and placed 3rd in Dakar on a BMW boxer 900

I think King of the Hammers is the truck one. I didn't know they started running bikes with that event that is crazy.

You're right Kevin my A.D.D. kicked in and I had to know after typing that so I just looked it up. King of the Motos kicks of the King of the Hammers week, they said it's like Burning Man for the motorheads.

Striders Rule! My son got one at 18 months and it taught him balance before pedaling. He then learned to ride a pedal bike at 2 3/4 years old and mastered it in 2 days. He will be 4 in June, just in time to get a 50cc dirt bike! You can even ride your Strider at a BMX USA event, Marion County fairgrounds has a great BMX track where Striders are encouraged.

You can even get an official KTM Honda Yamaha or Suzuki Strider. Don't get the generic Strider either, they are way heavier and cheaper built. You can even get snow skis to add to the Strider for winter.

I have it at home but cant access it on my Phone here at work. Try doing a search here and see if you come up with it. Since its only a year old I bet it is still available to view.

Nope. Got the brake addition for it now and he still likes to ride it now and again. Snow ski is on his xmas list too. Its much better for off road use than his heavy pedal bike so we keep it around. We did get his on craigslist brand new in box unopened for half price. Ive seen them on there now and again.
