MAKE SURE THE PORTS ARE CHAMFERED AND YOU WASH THE CYLINDER IN SOAPY WATER!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Jenna, if I get the G/S running tomorrow maybe I could swing by and we can look at that pump.

Just got home from a camp trip. Played with my friends '74 TS 185, had been sitting for a year, cleaned the carb, flushed the fuel tank, new plug, ringggg a dinggg dingggg. WTF???? Wish that's what mine would have required. Yeah, still working out some bugs, made it through my 3 heat cycle before the carb overflowed. Trying to figure out float levels and pump production. Will kick her over this week.

So...these oil pumps never fail, right? Well, mine just doesn't plain work. It isn't pushing ANY oil out, I'm at a standstill with running it through more heat cycles. Carb is still overflowing and I cannot figure out why...the float is at spec (23mm) not alot of info in the manuals for this year.

So, I hooked the oil pump up to my drill, again, and I got nothin'. Not even a spurt. Took it apart as much as I could, and nothing is blocking the passages, blew air through it, not sure what I'm looking for. So, before I invest in a used pump, what else can I do to get this one running. I am using the drill while I lift the arm halfway, and fully and I got nothin. Very discouraging since I can't fix all the other shit until it runs.

Jenna, I hear a lot of people cut those buggers off and just pre-mix the gas themselves. I don't trust them at all. Never trusted them in Vespas either.

There are people that are stern standing on both sides. If they put it there, it must be for a reason so I'm keeping it as it FUCKING WORKS!!!!!! I am an asshole, I didn't put the drill in reverse as the shaft spins counterclockwise.....dipshit. Pics to prove.

so why couldn't we get it to work when it was on the bike? The bike had to have been turning it in the right direction mounted on the motorcycle and no oil was coming out.

I wouldn't go to premix either. It'll be a big hassle for a road-going bike. Carrying a bottle and a mixer around with you is all fine and good if you've got the bike in the back of your truck but you don't want to deal with that on a street legal bike.

And besides, every four stroke out there has an oil pump and people don't freak out about it. I've certainly never had any problems with the lubrication system on my airhea.....ummm....nevermind

btw, my blown G/S engine will have company on the 'Wall of Shame'. Mike's donating his doohickey-failed KLR engine. Sooooo whatcha gonna do with that TS piston?

Dunno what the inside of this pump looks like. I always pack gear type oil pumps in car engines with vaseline. Otherwise they won't prime themselves.

Pre-mix is the way to go. If you think it's a hassle get a four stroke... WUSSY!

The suzuki oil pump delivers oil thru tubes to some key points (crank & wrist bearings) in the engine.

The Suzuki system is not like a yamalube that just directs the oil downstream from the carb.

If you switch to premix you are going to be taking your chances

Suzuki has strenuous warnings that failure to provide adequate oil via the crankcase injector port on the CCI oil injection system on all models (excluding TS/TM 400) will cause main bearing oil starvation, even if proper premix ratio is achieved.

Oil injection system known as POSI-FORCE, which consists of an engine-driven oil pump coupled to the throttle, which is designed to provide the proper amount of oil needed at the current RPM and throttle opening. The pump draws clean oil from a separate oil tank, and pumps it through hoses into the crankcase, where it is injected into the engine from a nozzle located between the intake manifold and the cylinder. A separate oil injection point is also provided for the main bearing(s) and big end rod bearings of the crankshaft. This dual-point injection made the Posi-Force system far superior to the competitions' single point per cylinder systems. Suzuki would continue to use this system on many of their two-stroke motorcycle designs for many years.

Jenna, the pump is gravity feed... So the oil tank must be at a higher elevation than the pump, in order for the pump to prime it's self.

PS. The oil tank has to have a vent somewhere, make sure it's not restricted.

I rebuilt many of crankshafts in my day when riders said screw the injection and run premix, it WILL kill the bearings in these motors as they are designed for the injection.

Just found this post and I'm sure it will help me in trying to get a 67 X6 back up and running. I'm impressed hardwaregrrl I hope I can muster the patience needed, probably won't, too ADD. I also saw you have been off to Labrador. Had a day of business in St. John's NF last year so I took my daughter and three dogs in a truck camper from New Mex and will likely go back this year via Lab.
