Yes, but then anyone can do that with a 150 lb modern trials bike as opposed to a vintage bike 100 lbs? heavier! :eek1

I went up to the practice ground today to do a photo assignment for the Trial Magazine .. the test riders brother, who works for Morgan cars, arrived in this ..

Took it out riding for the first time at Lake Houser ATV Park in Mooresboro NC.

Had a ton of fun, and wore my self out. I've got muscles sore that I didn't know I had. Haha!

Mixed up some fuel (Maxima Castor/Ester) and 76 gas (92 octane) at 70:1 and filled the tank on my new GasGas 280TXT Pro.

Then I practiced for about 1/2 hour on my acre with a gnarly hillside, taking it easy since it's still being broken-in.

She high-sided me when I starved her for gas, it was a slow-motion: "Crap, here we go!" kind of moment. Good to get the first fall out of the way...didn't have to be a high-side though...

I came in the house and my wife said: "Go look at your chin." Ha, I have old-man skin and hit something during the fall, had dried blood all over my chin, looked horrible but was barely a scrape...

I went out and tried riding with my motocross/full face helmet, you know what...I think it will work fine. I didn't notice a lack of vision and my chin will thank me the next time I fall.

    Here's my new girl

OK, I am crashing your thread again.:gun2

I declare the XT255 to be a trials bike :deal
It's what I have, so it will have to do.

    Enjoy!

A 225 with better handlebars, tires and gearing makes a pretty good novice level Trials bike, grind the steering stops too.
I suggest taking the mirrors off for such activity though.

    Thanks for the suggestions. :D

I already run the Shinko DOT trials tires. Maybe not the best, but cheap and durable :evil.

I don't want to mod the gearing as this bike is my daily driver. I'll just have to work on my clutch control.

Grind the steering stops. I might give that a try.

Elaborate on the better bars comment please. I am not sure what you mean.

i'm still saving for a trials bike, but enjoy taking the 450 into tight spots. FYI: 10 miles south of Moab, UT is a great place to ride trials or have event: (AREA BFE)

Wider and stronger, I have some old YZ450 bars on mine. The additional leverage and reduced flex makes a huge difference.Anything with a crossbar will be an improvement.

Well, yesterday I took my new bike out for a trail ride, whoopie! I'm still breaking it in so I took it easy, which at 60 years of age (me, not the bike), is a good way to ride-I think.

Spectacular view 12 miles to the ocean with my pretty little bike framing it perfectly. 80+ degrees in October, how I love the Central Coast!
