Here is my trusty steed in front of loved/hated Barcelona.

Call me an ignorant American, I don't understand why Barcelona is "loved/hated"? Why would it be hated?

Awesome RR and photos. I was fortunate to ride in Southern Spain last year and had a wonderful time, even not speaking the language and riding solo. I found the Spanish to be ever so helpful and kind.

Thanks for another taste of Spanish culture!!! :clap

Vander, I'd like to thank you for that ride report.

It was like the food you described: simple, pure, wonderful.

    Excellent photos.

How do you think a fellow who doesn't speak spanish would make out?

Oy! Great trip report, Vander:clap A friend and me have been talking about riding from Denmark to Spain on our next long trip and your report didn't exactly turn out the fire of my wanderlust. Thanks so much for showing the beauty of Spain and Portugal.
I read "Sinuhe, the Egyptian" a long time ago and loved it and now have to find the other one you recommended.

I'll give you a shout if I'm coming your way:thumb

Thank you all for the interest!

In Sintra I saw a polish Transalp with a couple on it. They were strugling to find the way aout of the town, as I did. Difficult with all the one-way roads.

    I read your RR. Great!

    Obrigado
I like everything I know about Portugal, so be sure I will visit it again :clap

No problem! We're all humanbeings and share the same needs, so it's easy to communicate. Learn some basic words to be polite and to ask for general things (sleep, eat, gas, help, etc) and enjoy what you ride, eat, see and live :freaky

That's a very good read too. :thumb

Wonderful report, thank you very much.

My wife and I took a bus tour in Nov 2009 through some of the places you visited. I spent most of the trip fantasizing that I was on my motorcycle instead of on the bus.

The area around Sintra was one of my favorites. We also visited San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen. Both amazing places from different times in history.

Thanks again for stirring up some wonderful memories.
