fark $16K for what is essentially a single with a bit of bling on it...

I suppose its only a couple of grand more than their 530's though...

What has put me off (other than waiting so long and the cost).. the "KTM 690 Enduro R"

Briefly up on the KTM site, for me at least has everything that the 690 E was lacking in.

FMF are making a pipe for the 690E now, and Akra already have one.. $1000 or so. Long range tank seems to be in the pipeline already, and racks and panniers can be bought already.

    Fuel efficiency is very impressive.

no doubt the bike looks to be a good thing.. untested, but good..

but shit.. you could buy a new DR, fit a full ohlins suspension kit (or whatever), a big bore kit, ralleye fairing, and a bunch of spare carby's.. and still have change from $16K..

but it will still look like a yellow bike

I read somewhere that the reason the switch is under the seat is because you are supposed to turn the bike off before changing the mapping. Be thankful its not the same as the 625. The wires are located under the side cover which means taking the seat off and then the sidecover. Having said all that I think one of those EXC switches are the way to go. Anyone got the part number?

I like the look of that 690E myself, but is it worth waiting for the 690 Adventure instead ? ... I mean, the Adventure is likely to have all those touring farkles - no ?

Sorry, I just realised that I answered my own question. "Waiting" is not something I'm good at either. Enjoy the E !

    Hi Graham,
The 690 Adventure probably, and I mean probably, won't be announced till 09 so I don't think we shall see one till twenty 10. I could be totally wrong as well, but the mail is they are in no hurry to get one out the door.
