There is some pavement. To be honest it reminded me of Downtown Anchorage.

Xlnt! Some of the nancies might tell you they got wet or whatever but just plan on a little bit of everything and if you don't get it all it won't be a problem. Dust, smoke, lightening, rain, blazing sunshine, freezing cold, hail. Like that.

We're off on a run in the Midnight Sun
to a land that time once knew.

    You'll (can't remember this part),
and cross the Yukon before this ride is through.

It's dirt rock and gravel where time has unravelled
and a touch of the lady called Lou.

    The swinging doors chatter:
"aren't you parched by such matters"?

Robert Service, Jack London, and you.

You'll be an old goat reminiscing on that one old Honda you thrashed years ago and the one golden trip that'll stand out first in your mind will have been D2D. If all I had was my regular clothes, trash bags and a couple one gallon zip lock bags to put over my socks I'd be ready.

It works because I've done it.

Plan for it all and know you'll get a bunch of it. That stuff about smoke and fire and hail and rain and lightening? It's all true. :thumb

You forgot fog. I followed two tankers from Chicken to the border one year and could not get around them because the fog was so thick I couldn't see two feet in front of my fender.

    Does this help?

There has been much written about the topic of firearms and crossing the border. Look it up and you'll be an expert.

You might want to read the Travel Planning section of that MILEPOST of yours. There is a section on bringing (or not) firearms into Canada.

Only time I was ever hassled at the border was when I drove my daughter down to Montana for her freshman year in college. The Canadian border guard at Beaver Creek asked her a series of questions and basically told me to shut-up. Asked her if she was really my daughter, was she travelling with me willingly and a few other questions designed to reveal if I was somehow forcing her to cross into Canada. She answered them all truthfully and we were soon on our way. As we pulled out she looked at me and said, "You owe me."

Thank heavens she did not mention the pound of meth we had in the trunk.........
