I ride mostly north of Hannibal (I live about 40 miles north and west by paved roads). There aren't a lot of legal creek crossings in the area, and the county roads near Hannibal are, surprisingly, about 50% paved. Go west from Hannibal and things get more dirty; in fact, the only legal creek crossing I know of in Marion County is on the west side.

Further north, in Lewis and Clark counties, there's more dirt and gravel; further west in Shelby County there are a lot of surprisingly well maintained dirt roads. It always amazes me that Shelby County posts road signs on the dirt roads; most of the counties up here don't go to that much trouble. Dirt road conditions right now (assuming the snow was to melt) are probably pretty bad... the easiest riding on dirt is right before, during, and right after deer season.

During deer season... wear bright clothes. Seriously. And loud pipes will save your life ('cause deer don't ride dirt bikes...)

Bah. Want to find some not-flat country? Look at your map, find a waterway, and bang, you're there. There's lots of hills up here, miles of them if you're in the right area.

If you're on a bike that handles pavement well, I recommend riding the road from Hwy 61 to Derrahs. If you can do it fast and neither crash nor wet yourself, well, I'm impressed. The road is moderately twisty and has two corners that apex on the hilltops... not a lot of weight on the treads at the very place you need some bite.

EDIT: Just mentioned this to my daughter, and she pointed out that the main paved roads up here are mostly flat. So, hey, this is adventure riding we're talking about, right? Get off the pavement, and you're there.

Rode Lost Creek (Muddy, very little snow) and Massas Creek roads today, as I was out there selling my old dirt bike. Good ride, lots of snow on Massas, Sorry, no pics, I should have brought my GoPro

Should've said something earlier, I was bored and looking to ride today. Two weeks ago, a crossing in Massas was nearly seat high.

No heat on the 500. Didn't need it yesterday, worked up a good sweat keeping it upright thru the deep snow on Massas. 450 is gone to a good guy Dan from Columbia. I'm out for a ride this coming weekend. grandson 2nd b-day committments. Spring is just around the corner

Hey that's me! I remember that ride, was the first time I rode in snow and slick conditions like that. My riding improved a lot that day. Wish there were more snow rides like that.

I thought you might recognize that pic. . . and a snowy ride does do wonders for your skills. It seems so easy riding in the dry after fighting the snow and slick stuff!
