Anybody up for a ride Sunday afternoon? It's gonna be a beautiful, sunny day, with temps in the 70's (yeah:huh)!!!

With all the rain this week, I was thinking maybe pound some pavement and stay out of the mud?

Unless someone has a better suggestion, meet at the 'Spirit' gas station on Brown's Ferry Rd, exit 175 on I-24, at 12:30 EST (they have an ethanol-free pump). Have lunch before you come. I don't care what bike you bring 125cc scooter or Goldwing; no man/woman left behind. That being said, the guy with open-pipe Hardley must ride in the rear of the pack. We'll be back by dark.

    Hope to see someone there.

What, no dirt? In that case I'll probably pedal the mtb on some single track and work off those holiday calories. Motorcycles are what made me fat in the first place.:lol3

Check my post in the DOG thread.

edit: Leaving the BP gas station at the corner of Ooltewah Ringgold rd & East Brainerd road at 9am to meet up with Mr. Twisty in Chatsworth if anybody wants to join. This will be a DS ride with plenty of dirt roads and twisty pavement.

Awe! Super jealous you boys are out today! I'll ride the DR to the store, since I've lucked out the past few days not being able to ride.

Last day of the year to ride Houston Valley OHV was New Year's Eve.
Four MX bikes and a pig (XR650L) took on wet, muddy, rocky, hilly trails.
The riding started about 1pm and we were the last MX bikes to leave the park just after sunset.

No dual sports here, true MX bikes:

This downed tree required a reroute.

First casualty of the reroute... Shifter puncture into the case...

Some quick work with JB Weld on his bike and we were back on the trails in no time.

    Another attempt at the reroute:

    <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=686dc8104e&photo_id=8336805598" height="225" width="400"></object>

Finally, the pig makes an attempt at the reroute... When gravity gets the better of these top heavy bikes. Its best just to get out of the way and let it go...
    <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000">

    <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=434eebec5d&photo_id=8335754515" height="225" width="400"></object>

It gets dark quick this time of year. We headed out of the heavy woods just as we lost sunlight. Then, the four MX bikes loaded up on trailers for a nice heated ride home in their tow vehicles. The pig makes short but cold commute back to East Brainerd.
With the exception of the reroute issues around the downed tree and one traction challenged hill, there was lots of high speed riding, sliding, and climbing. All in all a great day of riding.

See ya Houston Valley when you reopen April 1, 2013.
