Perhaps the title should have been "Riding a motorcycle is as dangerous as motoring a Minsk in Afghanistan".

One can choose to factor in or out this or that and manipulates numbers to reflect a point of view. Not always on purpose but if you did, chances that someone writing a book (maybe with an agenda) did the same are high.



Stats are fun and can be useful if understood, I'm with Glassewave on this, but we have to take all that with a pinch of salt. Especially witout all the data at our disposal.

Someone needs to tell Pfc. Joshua Doster that those sort of "operating procedures" may just be doubling the danger to personnel.

In combat you have to fight for freedom, on a motorcycle you enjoy it.

The biggest cause of death is living. Period. If I lived my life according to statistics, I'd die early of a heart attack due to inactivity. Go figure, jogging kills people, riding bicycles kills people, driving kills a LOT of people, riding in busses, trains, and airplanes kills people.

I ride at sane speeds for my ability. I'm ATTGAT religiously. I pay attention and don't ride when I'm tired.

Been down twice. Both times were over 50% my own fault, and I learned from both (don't ride tired and Pay Attention, Dumbass!).

I've severely lowered my chances of getting killed on the bike by slowing down a bit and paying more attention (age may have a little to do with this). I know riding can be dangerous, but giving up riding is, for me, more dangerous. There's a reason you don't ever see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychologist's office. Riding brings me peace and enjoyment as well as the travel my soul craves. Sure, minimize the danger, but ride anyhow!
