but it seems like everyone wants a light weight mid size adventure dual, sport machine not. a 450, 500 lb beast.so they just please the few! don't worry I won't buy it, I'll wait for the ktm 390 adventure and see what that's about and in the meantime I'll ride the hell out of what I have.

Well, I've been watching this over the past few days. First: this forum is really nice in being up to date (in this case, got the news before my own dealer, who just knew about the bike, but never got to see any pics or had any idea of the tank fuel thing or anything...).

Second: I really liked the idea of more gas in the tank because I do long rides and, some times, there is a looooong way between gas stations.

I've read about some though riders here who put themselves and bikes (and some times even wives) in pretty serious situations with the F 800 GS. Well done. But I've seen as well that most of those rides are pretty close to their doors, I mean, not too far from home. In this case, I can understand why they claim the extra gas isn't desirable... At the same time I see the new extra tank coming up by Oso Blanco with lots of people interested in it. So... There is actually a demand for extra miles range. Even for those who want to ride this bike as a small dirty one.

So, I think, and correct me if I'm wrong, this is an adventure machine, therefore, it likes to eat miles on AND off road. For that, you gonna need gas, unless your nasty off road adventure last for nothing more than 150 miles.

At this point I remember of a very inspiring inmate who took this bike to crazy places... have you seen Lost Rider (Finn)'s pics? How about his STB, with that big ass Touratech tank?

But not is perfect, never. So they got more gas... with the same engine, same horse power... Heavier bike with the same engine displacement. Not good. Not to mention the suspension.

If I were buying today, I would certainly go for the new GSA. But, with all the upgrades and farkles I've added to my current 09 F800GS, there is little advantage to trading up now. With the Camel tank soon to be installed, I'll have all and more that the new GSA offers.

Still, it's great to finally see this model in the lineup. I wonder if it will also finally come fitted with knobbies from the factory.

    saw the GSA800 ...
I got the info on it ...
If I wanted that I would have kept my R12GSA ...

    I'm buying anF800GS tomorrow now :D
they should have put the extra fuel up front, then it would have been a no brainer for me...
but I have a K16GTL for anything long now on road (my wife also has one) ...
but when she is at work, and I need to explore, off road (which I miss DEARLY) I'd have the F8GS to do that ...

I'll get the ESA on it and traction only because it's there on the bike at the dealership ... and it's only $10.00 more a month ...

Shouldn't the 800 be on a trailer behind one of the GTL's? :huh
