Ok guys I'm in dv and already did some exploring but I feel limited by my stock tank
    I also have 1gallon rotopax and 2msr
Stocker ran out of gas at 80 miles yesterday , I do ride like a maniac
Wanna go to racetrack from stovepipe tomorrow
Should be ok on gas? My math says no but I suck at math
    Input larryboy?
Stovepipe racetrack and back 130 miles?

check if you can get out South Pass....It might have too much snow, but if it doesn't, you are set up for a great loop. Stove Pipe to Ubehebe, Racetrack, Lippencott, Saline Valley Rd, 190 back to Panamint for gas. Another option would be Hunter Mt, but it's probably impassible now.

That's a great loop , I did saline road to humbolt cabin, wanted to stay there but pitched the tent at panamint .... The bar and the 150 different beers are a danger!!!
Are you saying I can do this loop on my stock tank?

Kay, here's the approximate mileage. Stovepipe to Ubehebe....50 miles.
Ubehebe to Teakettle Junction...20 miles. Teakettle to start of Lippencott...10 miles. Lippencott top to Saline Valley Rd....10 miles. Then, 30 miles on Saline Valley Rd to 190. Then 18 downhill paved miles on highway 190 to gas (and beer), at Panamint Springs. So, that's about 140 miles total. It's probably more like 130 miles but I'm being conservative with the mileage just in case. IF you can do 120 with your extra fuel carrying capabilities, then got a hold of a 1/2 gallon gatorade bottle or something....dumped it in your gas tank at Ubehebe you'd be set. There's a garbage can there just for that purpose. : )

Course, if South Pass is um...impassible, you're screwed.

Except, you could backtrack to the Saline Valley hot springs, bum food and a warm place to sleep, soak in the amazing hot springs, buy some gas from Lizard Lee and... boom....an adventure is born. Take a lot of pictures.

I'll be through there next Friday. If I see you by the side of the trail, I'll give you enough food and water so you have enough strength to choke me for offering shitty advice. : ) I'll be the guy on the XR with a 6 gallon gas tank.

I got the ims 4.9. It get about 200 miles range. It's actually a little skinnier at the knees and makes the whole seat to tank area very smooth.

Is there a gas station near Scottys Castle? Nat Geo map says so, but it would be nice to know for sure!

Not since 2005. They made up some story about a fuel leak and closed the station, no cleanup effort has ever been made.
