INside the tube is a complete set for tire repair, including a mini 12v air compressor.
Hi Kalleswe - I don't want to sound like one of those Advriders that say "You've done it all wrong bro..." - but when I saw your tool tube I thought two things .... that's a really nice, clean install, but I also wondered if you're maybe going to have problems with heat from the pipe? Keep your eye on it mate - I've had exhaust heat from my 1200 melt the little red plastic sideways facing reflector on the LHS of my license plate assembly .... so I know there's some fierce heat from the pipe in that area.
and then there's the Wunderlich Tip Enlarger - an exquisitely crafted little piece of kit - that not only impresses with increased functionality - but it is just SO BEAUTIFULLY well made, that it's not even funny. It slips into place like a surgical implant. Tolerances are so tight - you just wouldn't think it was something to bolt on to your bike. You've got these two bolts passing through two plates, with threaded channels at perfect angles .... ooohhh - nothing short of engineering porn. Probably the best fitting farkle I've added to any of my bikes. Well done Wunderlich.
screen adjuster doo-hickies. Can't say I'm impressed yet. Maybe I need some more time to fiddle with them. Again from Wunderlich
I just road from Ushuaia to the end of the road in Tierra Del Fuego National Park--the culmination of 23,420 km from the US. And on the way back into Ushuaia, my final drive failed. So I'm about to figure that out.
Thanks for your concern. Yep, it sure is a "high risk area". I had a saddlebag which was hanging down just above the exhaust and it was ok. I guess (hope...) that the heat just behind the exhaust is far more intense than above it. Used my nose on the first ride today and the familiar burning plastic smell wasn´t there...I hope it will continue in that way...
I installed an Odyssey PC625 battery in my '12 R12GSA. Fairly easy install and what an improvement over the stock battery.
I got a fairly nice day and the wife to be was away, so it was time to install some of my TT goodies. I put on the oil cooler guard (alot easier to do than some people on here have led on), the hard part steering stop, and the footprint enlarger for my side stand. and i washed her up a little ( i really need a cover, sitting under the carport it gets very dirty) all in all a good day for me and my GSA Hopefully a ride tomorrow if the weather is nice and maybe an install of the engine guards.
Like AB a few posts up, I now have a tool tube, mine being attached with JVB ingenuity containing a modified Slime Air compressor and tire flat fixins. I'll let JVB weigh in on the dremel mods to the air compressor case to make it fit in the tool tube. . .. Rear view at night, with some circular stealth black reflective tape on the lid:
I rode a Yamaha 750 in Iowa one winter whenever the streets were clear enough. Coldest actual temp was -25F. I love cold weather gear!

I GS 1, I do like that color! never seen that before. today on my own bike, I tinkered with the MOrontronic. moved HES plate from fully retarded, to fully advanced. set TPS to .450 or so volts from the normal .370 removed the jumper, ran NO cat code plug. poured in 3 gallons of 98 octane fuel , and rode about 30 miles. decent bottom end snap, no pinging, but it did surge like a son of a bitch at steady throttle
I finally installed my MRA X-reen on top of my GSA windscreen. I love the infinitely adjustable settings both for height and angle. I never realized just how much I depended on the buffeting to tell me how fast I was going. . I was going 90 and it felt pretty comfortable. I'll give a better review when I have a few more thousand miles under my belt.
Cheated on it,test drove a KTM 990 adv, nice bike with absolutely NO wind protection, otherwise a nice machine. I'm planning to go to Ushuaia and am going to buy a bike in the US, but I don't want to have a final gear go south on me( i possible , it would have to go to the Antarctic) especially on a 1200, SOOO I'll get a bike with a chain drive and the GS650 is to small , no X-challenges around and very few GS 800 at least in California where I intend to buy the bike. So what do you do, check out the competition! It will not be as comfortable as the BMW, nothing a Renazco won't cure
I rode a couple of hundred miles through the twisties - from San Clemente in south Orange County to Julian California in eastern San Diego County and back. This was a group ride organized by BMW Motorcycles of Escondido. It was a very good ride...
