As with Slim, count me in for the UK leg or some Europe.

Any excuse to get out and I`m just working on how to tell the the current Mrs Express that I`m off to Italy to bring back a cuddly toy:D

Sounds like a lovely idea. Seeing that there are many dozens of riders in the US who could take part, maybe we could even form a little 'contingent' hand off from one region to the other
. I am in the bay area and i can imagine a little gang of 5-10 ADV riders would easily be rallied to hand off to the next region

I agree that each ADVrider hands over the responsability to another ADVrider. That ADVrider could be riding in a group but the actual responsability of the mascot would lie with the one person.. I'm sure it would not be a problem.. The more tha merrier....

The waterproof book idea sounds great as well. I'd be keen to try that..:clap

I think it might be the time to start talking logistics. I think we will need one person per continent (minimum) who would like to actually try organise the mascot through that continent.

Add your names againt the continent of your choice if you would like to try organsie the mascot through that area.

    Australia - GazzaFish (me) :D
    North America -
    South America -
    Europe -
    Asia -
    Africa -
    Antarctica - anyone???? :eek1

Once we have some names down we can chat a bit about how we make it happen.... I would imagine each person would define the 'start point and date' for that continent with whoever was looking after the previous continent and then also the 'end time and point' with whioever looks after the next continent. Where it goes in between is up to you...

    Any thoughts????:clap :clap

In an attemopt to keep this thing moving, I have made an executive decision on 'The PIG' as the official mascot. Thanks to 'elchulopadre' for the suggestion.

    Reasons are :-

    - PIG is stereotypical pink and FAT :D
    - PIG loves to make grunting noises
    - PIG loves to play in the mud
    - PIG is what bacon is made from.
    - A lot of ADV bikes are refered to as PIG's....

Decision made. Now to buy one....

I think Shog's is right in all her wisdom!!

Waterproof book, let's do it, One person contact per region, perfect. I will start with North America, then as we get riders and interests, we can make regional personel as key contacts

    Here's an addition:

    Australia - GazzaFish (me) :D
    North America - Komito :eek1
    South America - :jose
    Europe - :0-0
    Asia -
    Africa -
    Antarctica - anyone???? :eek1

GazzaFish, PM me and let me know some financials to get the pig and the Book Shog's recommended. I will pitch in with you to help with the financials. I think you should start with everything, PIG, book and anythign else that goes along with the mascot...

Also, what is the most cost effective post from Australia? Would Asia be the closest? Could we get riders there to join up?

I love the 5 min video, photos to make a video and collage from afterward. That would be kool!!

If we decide to go with a pig, here's a quick little 'logo' thing I came up with.

How about we get this made a "sticky" and you edit the front page to be the list of participants. You might even want to start a new thread to give it a proper launch how about "Around the world in 80 Oinks the ADV pass the pig challenge" I also think that you might benefit from posting a link in the regional forums too.

Maybe add a little pig on a bike setting off from Oz?

Keep it oval like Shogs suggests

Oh I can't really do the stickers. I just kinda came up with that as a concept, sorry :-/ I can definitely make the changes that are needed once I get home (at work right now) though and post them and maybe someone else can do the sticker stuff. I dont even know where to get started for all that jazz.

    cool idea!

It'd be nice if the pig can make it to as many ADV gatherings as possible along the way - imagine photos of large groups of ADV knuckleheads posing around the pig, posted in the 'where's porky' sticky thread... give more of us a chance to 'participate' as it were.

Not really. Ideally it would be handed to an ADVrider who was heading overseas on a trip :clap and therefore it would be taken by hand. In reality, this may be quite a bit harder to organsie and we may have to resort to mailing it from continent to continent is some cases...

    Any ideas?

I would imagine if we could get someone to carry on board, that would be kool. We have to keep in mind that once we set a timeline for the relay, we may have to ship in order to save on time.

How long should we keep it in each continent?

In a place like North America, we'd want to have it given a certain amount of time and passed on as often as possible, to include as many people. But it could obviously stay here forever, so that is something we'd like to avoid.
