Anybody know if Charouleau Gap is open? I heard it might be clased right now for maintenance, or possibly due to fire danger. Can anybody verify if this is true? I searched on the Coronado Nation Forest Website but couldn't find anything.

    Hi Becky,

I'm out of town this week or I would be there for sure. I've been traveling for work a lot again this year so have missed a lot of bike nights at the RG. Seems like you have to make an appointment with people to make sure someone shows up these days.

Just picked up my new to me bike a couple weeks ago and have only ridden it once and that was to the DMV and then on to work.

Have fun on the AK trip.

I stopped by IronHorse when I was out there a few weeks ago. Great shop. And I'd love a GS but that's a bit more than I was thinking to spend for a spare bike. Found a nice little F650 in the area that I'm thinking about. Maybe have IronHorse give it a full service. At any rate, I don't want to be around such great riding and be stuck in a car the whole time! Plus I need to register the bike for OHV and road use as well as find a place to store it on the weeks I'm not in Tucson.

    Any ideas???

Someone at Iron Horse stores motorcycles as a side business I think, you could ask around there. My neighbor is one of the tech's there, it's a good shop. (Although he does ride an Aprilia! :lol3 )

Frank at ZMW also does storage. He's also a good mechanic and deals a lot with ADV gear/equipment. He's developing a few products that he will be bringing to market specifically for ADVer's. He's got a real nice light set-up that I may be looking at for my DRZ. He actually prepped a bike for Charley Boorman that he keeps out here. ZMW Adventures

Depending on what you get you might be able to store it under my ass for a few hours a week?

    There's always this http://tucson.craigslist.org/mcy/3878847616.html
Not my bike but I have one. Kinda sorta based on one just like this one.

Iron Horse will still be your dealer and they will never, ever have the part you need in stock!! :rofl

Really liking that R100GS... Bit more than I'm looking to pay for a part time bike but... a true classic. How are they off road?

What a bunch of irreverent a$$h0l3s on this site. I should fit right in.

Motorcycle Pimps they never give you a price up front,
    just by the hour.

    I was thinking a beer a day,
    anything less,
I would just leave it outside,
and the rattlesnakes could watch it,
or the squirrels could use it for storage.
