Hi All, Just back from a 7000km jaunt thru Africa and now it's time to sort out some issues. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as always as the local KTM dealer is trying, but I'll let your imagination fill in the blanks.. 1) On bringing the clutch lever in, the engine RPM shoots up to 5000rpm 2) The engine rpm regularly 'hangs up' around 3500-4000rpm for between 3-12secs before slowly reducing to what you would expect 3) Engine is backfiring on a regular basis The ECU has been reset,( running Staintunes with the Aka. map installed ) no fault codes logged and the throttle body is in the process of being ultrasonic cleaned. Fuel filter has been changed, air filter has been changed. Has anyone come across the above before? Looking at checking the fuel pump delivery pressure and fuel injectors next. Any advice would bemuch appreciated Cheers from the desert, Bulbirra
Sounds like the clutch is dragging - but in neutral? Is it idling at 1500 rpm. Have you shorted out the clutch sensor?
Is it sucking in air around the inlet manifold etc, ? (being lean will cause the rpm to hang up high)
Idle is high as well, around 2000-2100rpm, but not all the time. Seems to be more prevalent once the bike has warmed up. My understanding of the clutch sensor is it primary function is to stop the engine when the bike is in gear and on it's stand? Does it also feed back into the ECU as well? I have been told it only goes into the CDI (instrument cluster) and not the ECU Thanks for the feedback Regards
Hi All, For all those that have to deal with KTM Dubai... DON'T! That's the first lesson I've learnt. After the having the bike in the their workshop for 2 months, the only decent technician in the the place found that the fuel injector was not seated properly. Thus allowing air to be sucked in. Picked the bike up and took it for a test ride, and sure enough he had in actual fact NAILED IT. WELL DONE to Haris. Unfortunately after having done 1500km it is now doing it again! This leads me to believe either the throttle body housing where the injector sits is distorting slightly when hot, as it seems to be more prevalent after sitting on 130km/hr for 2.5 hrs or the injector itself is worn/loose. Hope this helps anyone who has similiar misadventures! Just remember, stay away from KTM Dubai. They are absolutely atrocious!!!
