Can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to install the bushings for the hand guard. The kit comes with two, as the grip is longer. The left side was easy I just didnt push the hand guard as far in to the bar. The throttle side though I'm confused. Which order do I fit the bushings. It looks nothing like in the instructions. Cheers.
The ktm heated grips. It doesn't say to use a bushing on the left side. And it only comes with one longer bolt. One of the bushings has a hole just big enough for the bolt, the other is bigger and fits over the expanding bar plug/wedge thing.
I don't exactly remember when I did mine but yes, no bushing on the left side. On the right, the bushing goes between the handguard and the handlebar, thus you need the long bolt.
but in which order? and which bushing? the right has the handguard, a bolt, then a 2 piece expanding wedge with a flange that sits against the hand guard . one of the bushings fits only over the bolt, the other fits over the expanding wedge. so th only way to use the smaller holed bushing is putting it between the wedge and the hand guard, which doesnt look right as the flange is then not flush with the hand guard. right now I'm just using one bushing, the bigger one over the wedge, which basically stops it going so far into th bar. it seems ok, but im not using the other wedge at all. and the grip at the far right is kind of floating over nothing as its bigger than the bushing. thanks for the help guys.
OK, I'm confused now. I don't have my bike here so I can't take a look but I found the instructions online and they show a pic of how is supposed to be. You have the instructions so you already saw the picture, sorry I can't be of any help.
bushings are only needed to make sure that the throttle side grip doesn't rub your bark busters. the grip is slightly longer so you have to use the spacing or you get yourself a nice cruise control when you may not want it!
thats my point, the hand guard bar plug on the picture is nothing like the one actually on my bike.. i know the bushing is to stop the grip contacting the hand guard. which ive done. but what's the other bushing for? the so called anti vibration bushing...
