So I started taking my bike apart to look it over and make some mods....

Found a crack in my rear header pipe. I think this was caused from the couple of times my exhaust strap broke and the bumps transfered weight to the header
    [IMG]

So I weld it it up.

I got my bike together and it works...it's the cleanest it's been since I bought it. I made a much more heavy duty pipe strap as the stock Remus one broke on me twice.
So I now have a new clutch, new water pump, new slave cylinder, new shorai battery. The battery weight is a big difference!

Bad news is I have some bolts left over.....good news is I've been trying to lighten the bike up so it's all good!

Got it together friday night and went on a 7 hour rider on single track doing the A and B loops on a local rally. No issues.

Is that why my bike was running hot? :)
I actually put in one of those hoses that runs the drain down to the skid plate so that particular bolt is not needed. ( I will put it back for the race....the hose is just one more thing to go wrong )

I think that we are going south right off the bat, we didn't get to ride it so we need to check it out. I think that we are going to be staying at campgrounds not sure of the name. I know that we tried to find a place by the start and finish and they are all booked. I want to be on the road by the1st of Nov. might even start the drive on the 31st so we don't have to push it. We want to cross into Baja early the 4th and get about half way down.

    What about you?

Today went out and did some riding on rougher single track in order to make sure nothing falls off the bike after my overhaul.

Here is a short video of some test riding:

Here is a video of how the bike sounded before the new exhaust

It's not like all this single track is good practice for the fast open riding of the baja, but it sure brings up the level of the grip strength.

It's just the single...trying to keep the weight down. Though I had to fabricate a new bracket for it as the stock ramus ones kept cracking on me. Now it's solid.

I'm heading to Felipe around Oct 24th. Going to stay at Kikis there and preride the top part for a week. Then head to south to preride other areas. I'll get you guys my sat phone number when I pick them up and it would be rad to hang out together.

So I made the mistake of buying the Large Sidestand Foot from touratech... http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/...and-Foot-KTM-990-950-Adventure-LC8-690-Enduro

This is the biggest pile of crap ever. Don't buy this EVER!. Within a couple of rides the mounting area bends and it forever rattles on your bike.
The only good thing was that I traced its shape to some metal to fabricate my own and weld it up.

    Test fitting.

Good luck.:lurk FWIW, before the 08 B1k it was suggested that I remove the kickstand from my XR650R but I didn't do it... :baldy just slipped my mind. During the race it came down in some rock whoops and launched me off to the right resulting in a pretty hard crash.
