I don't think that NFL results matter in this dicussion. To my eyes Tebow was the most dominating college player since Herchell Walker....and had 3 great seasons a starter and one as a freshman specialist on a MNC team.

Johnny Football had an amazing freshman season let's give him a couple more years to see where he ends up in college football legend. The pressure will be very high on him so he has a very difficult task.

Speaking of six footers, Fran Tarkenton had a pretty good career. Nine Pro Bowls and three trips to the SB.
3,686 pass completions, 47,003 passing yards, 342 touchdowns and 3,674 yards rushing.
Johnny Football reminds me a lot of Tarkenton.
Like you said about RG3, that type of QB might shake things up in the NFL.

Auburn won a Natty with Cam Newton and a hack for an OC. College football, 'nuff said. :lol3

You say you are located in Canada, hence the Canadian football reference. If you aren't in Canada, where are you?

And, I didn't use polls, those were actual records, and truth be told, I only used final results and did not take into account 2 undefeated teams playing each other. So, I guess we're moving from "almost always, to "usually", to "hardly ever".

I get around....see what assuming does? Read the thread.

Creeping senility must be hard on a man. :lol3

Your original premise was that Alabama backed into the game because others lost. 9 out of 15 times at least one participant had at least one loss....that's most of the time. That's all.

Oregon had a tough loss, but KSU lost to a terrible team with no defense. I don't feel a bit sorry for them.

Holy Shit!!!!! :eek1 I was hoping with the imminent demise of the BigEast that the MWC would retain BoiseSt and SDSt, and maybe pick up another team that would work...

Now this from The Sporting News.

I know my schools are relegated to the B leagues. I want them to be "my" B leagues. I want to play ColoSt, AFA, Wyo every year. I don't give a shit about South Florida, Memphis or Temple... etc.

We need to make the Semi-Pro teams officially Semi-Pro.

The whole BCS thing is a proven failure. The AQ deal is a complete fiasco. Eventually it's going to come down to 4 or 5 super conferences. But for most it's going to be feast or famine, the disparity is going to get larger IMO. As of now you have the SEC, B1G, PAC, and Longhorn league, then everyone else is out in the cold.

Seems to be happening in other sports as well. Most notably in PAC 12 basketball, which has only 1 ranked team in the Top 25, Arizona, #8. What's up with PAC 12 sports? :huh

    Jurgen goes crazy---

    Mountain West (Football) 2013---
Wyoming, ColoSt, AFA, UNM, UtahSt, UNLV, Nevada, FresnoSt, SanJoseSt, Hawaii---

    BigEast Remnants-- (future...)
UConn, Cincinnati, Boise State, South Florida, Temple, SDSt, Memphis, Central Florida, Houston, SMU, Tulane, Eastern Carolina

That's 22 teams. Instead of poaching, scrambling into the life boats, throwing kids overboard, combine. Do the mega conference that ConfUSA and MTNWest danced around--- Except this would be better positioned than the ConfUSA/MTNWest combo pack with more top/mid football teams.

    Divisions:
    West--
    1. Hawaii
    2. Boise St
    3. Fresno St
    4. San Jose St
    5. SDSt
    6. Nevada

    Mountain:
    1. Utah St
    2. Wyoming
    3. ColoSt
    4. AFA
    5. UNM
    6. UNLV

    Central:
    1. SMU
    2. Houston
    3. Tulane
    4. Memphis
    5. Cinci
    6. BYU

    East:
    1. UConn
    2. Temple
    3. South Florida
    4. Central Florida
    5. East Carolina
    6. Navy

Makes for the whole damn country, lot's of TV markets, could be good. :dunno
Could add BYU and ??? to make it an even 24. Four six team divisions.

ooops missed Navy add BYU and you have it. :deal (edit ii)

    Makes way too much sense.

Also you missed that newly minted independent powerhouse - Idaho. :evil

Interesting to see what Boise State does. The big "AQ" move has turned out to be more of a lateral shuffle only two time zones away. Lots of rumors and grumbling out here.

Can't wait for that Temple game!

What's really sad for the Big East is that all their good basketball schools just left to form a new conference. :lol3

I took the teams already in or slated to be in the MWC and the BigE. The only add is BYU.

Won't shock me to see Tulane back in C-USA. I know Cinci/UConn have floated thought about reforming the BigE with a few "acquisitions" from the MWC. As you know I'm a MWC backer, and even though they mentioned UNM going to their new "AllAmerica" conference I don't like it.

UNM will probably never play in what are currently called the "BCS" Bowls. I just want to be able to go on Saturday and watch them play CSU, AFA, Wyo... Natural, long time rivals. If it comes down to watching them play Memphis, Cinci, Temple etc I'd just as soon stay home and watch semi-pro.
