Sounds about right. Not seen one reported for the X bikes on here yet but I understand that several have been reported for the earlier F650GS single bikes. Have a look on f650.com
Correction here, sorry. Your rear subframe is the TT one Problem with the XCo steel subframe are the welded-on passenger pegs. They interfere with the rack's lower mounts.
With the seal gone, there is still hardly any risk of water in the oil. Rotax did the engineering properly. One seal for the waterside and another one for the oilside. The room/chamber in between has a hole in the bottom to the outside world
If the oil is really coming from that spillage hole, you're probably right. Normally it's the water seal that goes first, so it might be advisable to change that one also when you're there.
I have recently had the same however I think it was the water side that went. It took me a bit to work out whether it was coolant or oil that had dripped on the ground. seems to have stopped now but the seals are going to get changed any way. 45000ks on the clock. The older 650s used to do seals after 40-50k
Great to see you made it to/on the road Ed. Keep the dirty side down and keep in touch. Any updates or shortcomings in the set-up, you got my address Some of the stuff was hardly beyond prototyping. Ride free mate and enjoy
not your stuff, but the saddle bags that i made to fit your racks, were the prototyping... you can see from the links i just sent you...
bike back from shop replaced with water pump shaft kit, pump gasket and clutch gasket and 4.5 hrs labor they showed me the water pump shaft it had wear mark on it, so not long until the water would start leaking around seal and yes oil got past the oilside seal only at 38 000 on the clock. got photo but cant work out how to post it ( sorry progress peaked at frozen pizza for me)
Does annyone have the right dimmensions for the battery, i'm ordering the absolutt largest lithium battery posible for the bike. But i'm not at home to meassure it my self :-(
Original is YTZ10S, very snug fit, dimensions: Width 150mm x Lenght 87mm x Height 93mm or 6" x 3 7/16" x 3 11/<wbr>16"
i concur with this. before i left inuvik, i checked my forks, one was 2mm and the other was 3mm, i adjusted my front forks so that both were 5mm protruding from the top triple, and it made a world of difference. zero wobbles in the gravel (well, maybe not zero, the front still had a little wobble when you hit deep'ish gravel, would flick a bit and then straighten out and be very stable) there was so much difference, i almost cant believe the difference from just a few mm...
Well, the largest Ah i found on the Shorai battery was 14 Ah. (On a casing that fits the bike...) Does annyone know of different brands that might have higher Ah, but still a small enough casing?
Posted in Thumpers but probably best to have this in this thread...... 6,000 miles, 2009 model G650XC. Was replacing a failed Sprag clutch and checking the valve clearances when l found this damage to the camshafts and plain bearings..... Any ideas how this has happened? the bike has never been ran low on oil while i,ve owned it the past year (brought with 2,000 miles on the clocks) and carried out a changed at 3,000 miles before doing another 3,000 recently in Morocco. So far i,ve checked the oil pumps for damage but they are perfect, is it worth stripping the engine to check the main and big end bearings before l fork out for new camshafts and housings or are there other things l can check on this engine? Thanks
