I do feel a bit funny about this. I am not usually one to receive charity. There are many people in the world who are far worse off then me. So please think hard before sending me money. Maybe there is a local food bank or something it might be better used at.

That being said, I am working on setting up a "donation button" on my blog.
In the mean time, My paypal is linked to Noah.horak@gmail.com

Thank you all for the moral support. You are all friends in my book.

… having your ride stolen sucks!
… in another country to boot.

Don't give up. While I wouldn't wish this on anyone, this will all be part of your adventure. It sounds crazy now but you may later look back and view the whole experience as a positive.

Sent some dough to your paypal account. If you get your bike back pay it forward to to a good cause.

Paypal sent. We give money to the Food Bank every year. I have no problem helping those that help themselves. Sometimes shit comes up, and we need to lean on each other a little bit. Thats what help was supposed to be once upon a time.

If you get your bike back, hopefully there will be some $$ to help fix it back up:clap

So the obvious question: Who makes the most gnarly chain/lock set for a moto? I want something that needs a torch to get through... for whatever i may be riding next.

Good luck with the recovery Noah, really hoping between you, the police and the local bike scene someone can come up with it in good shape.

They want it bad enough they'll take it.
Better to be aware of your surroundings and only leave in a secure spot when in cities.

Obviously. I will be getting safer places to park and doing better research. That being said... I also want to have the biggest fecking chain out there.

    Sorry...didn't mean to sound smug.

I think you just had a bad experience/bad luck.
Perhaps followed or tipped off by someone after picking up your Moto.
For the most part this doesn't always happen.

With that said, back to your question.
We always carry a big ass chain with plastic tubing over it,it looks good but in reality it could probably be snapped quite easily.
It also helps that I usually have another bike with me,so we chain them together.

    Again,really sorry about your bike.
I guess we are all so vulnerable out there.

I've got on of these. 30mm, 3 feet long. http://www.revzilla.com/product/ong...kw={keyword}&gclid=CKLW06WA4LECFYWo4Aoda1cA3A
It's a serious piece of gear but of course needs to be secured to something immovable. And keep the lock mechanism well lubricated to keep it safe from the old superglue trick.

I did a little diggin for you.

First, I have a lock just like Barman. Leftover from my pedal bike in college.... I think it is a good lightweight, easily carryable lock. Used between a pole and your frame I think it could work well and I haven't ever seen a set of bolt cutters that could break it. You would need a power tool IMO.

Hats off to the guys in Dublin. Sounds like they are using a helicopter and a contingent of fine folks to search for the 690 in a rough part of town. Pretty amazing show of support.

    Crap...

So sorry to hear about the theft. I have been away for a couple of days and am just catching up on the past few pages...

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

The motorcycle community is a tight one. The love of bikes and adventure is what bonds many of us here. I am confident that things will work out, one way or another.

Sometimes on trips it is the worst of times that make the best stories. In my travels I have found that there are so many people out there that are good people. It is a few bad eggs that spoil it for the rest. As you can see from the past few pages, there are many great people who want the best for you.

    Best of luck,

    Jeff G.
