Just managed to acquire a R90S - been looking for one in original condition for a few years

less than 3,000 miles from new - owned by an ex BMW dealer and dry stored for almost 30 years - totally original and still had original tyres, (until they were changed)

rides like new - good performance, cannot think that you would need anymore - nice brakes - comfortable with a good riding position for the bars
did 200 plus miles and the tank still had lots of gas left in it

    Lucky day

Oh my, but that's one purty motorcycle. Kind of a dream. Good luck with it.

Just looking at it is almost enough

riding it is a real bonus - better than the R100s, (which I like), that I have ridden - I was really surprised how good it is

just sold my oilhead, (R1150GSA), and I don't regret it – I now feel a lot “cleaner”, (sorry about the pun),

but that's me - I just prefer "old" airheads – aren’t they great – so much character and they are really “part of you” when you ride them

a “keeper” as they say, (I hope my son will appreciate it one day)

    Thanks

Hey Noah. Is that the stock 640 color scheme
for your PD? I have an 89, 640 color that was
repainted before I got it. No one seems to know
what the stock color looked like in this year.Never
seen a PD with that much yellow on black. If you have
pics from more angles I would love to see them.

No it's not stock. I bought the bike from the original owner of the BMW dealership here in the Pittsburgh area (Heritage BMW - the 1st dealer in Pgh.) He bought the tank seperately and had it painted - I forget who did it. He also put bars on from an R65?. It is very comfortable. It is going through some needed serviceing (supertrap exhaust, diode board, coil, fork springs, rear brake rebuild - all parts thanks to one of our members here) for the winter commuter bike. I'll get some other pictures up later.

After seeing some of the fantastic machines in the thread I feel almost embarrassed to show you my “new”Airhead.

To start with, I'm just going to ride it and enjoy it rather than trying to turn it into some sort of show stopper ... after all that's what they are for, riding not polishing :D

Cheers rockt, that's what I like about it too.

What I was meaning was that the bike is almost 15 years old, and the previous owner was more concerned about riding it and having it serviced regularly than engineering some fantastic upgrades, or spending all weekend in the shed polishing the thing.

... and on the subject of well polished bikes.

Cheers to you too paragon. The North end of North Island is the terrain that GS's of all flavors were designed for, and now that I've a got a couple of options to choose from, I'm beginning to think that all my birthdays have come at once.

Roll on summer and the long evenings to start exploring.

Also, thanks for the ps, I look forwards to putting it to use of it in the not too distant future :thumb

You can't post pics direct from your hard-drive they need to be hosted like here...
    axle.smugmug.com

then you can ctrl+c (copy) the image location.... in your post click the [IMG] button and paste the url, click OK and the pic appears by magic in the post.....
