Yeah I did not realize the GS911 was doing all the heavy lifting on the DA side on Roger's RT. I may have to negotiate further with Santa.
I owned my LC-1 for a few months before I realized the datalogger for O2/AFR was an integral part of it. You just install the free logworks software, attach a cable from the LC-1 to a PC and you're good to go. Even if you don't have a GS-911, you can learn a great deal about how your bike is running by logging the AFR.
I started this thread 6 years ago almost to the day and it now has 31,500 views and still going. I didn't realise that this was such an on going problem. I've moved on, not everyone else has. Unfortunately that 1150 is sold, still have the Ducati, looking at a new 1200 this year I think Regards
I want ask a very important question : Can i use monotronic MA 2.4 (from 1100s) on my gs 1100 ? The original one is monotronic 2.2 Thanks
Thanks The ecu from 1100 rs is MA 2.2 (1993 model). But i think that the rs has not catalytic. Can i use it for my catalytic gs1100 ?
Not as a plug-n-play swap, the connector pinouts are different. It's possible though. Some number of the 35 pins in the 1100 ECU connector must be relocated to match the 1150 ECU. <BR>
I hear you. Pinging may not be much of an on-going problem but there seem to be lots of lingering effects of lean-running in the Oilhead fleet. It seems that most owners accept them "just the way they are". My personal favorite symptoms are, "keep the RPMs up, Oilheads love 4-5000RPM", or " ... rarely in 6th gear below 70". With as little as 3-4% more fuel, the Boxer motor is transformed. Although Lamda shifters can be bought for $160 (Innovate Motorsports LC-1), when someone makes a Nightrider-type Lambda-shifter, then I think there'll be a wave of interest in what these devices can do. Here's a good comparison table: comparison of different lambda settings.
Hello again. The tuning on my bmw r1100gs is continue. I think to use two ignition coil parallel for better fire spark. The bosch coil gives up to 12.000 Volt. I dont know what happen and how long will be the voltage by one battery. Have anyone some idea how to make the connection by register or by AC Adapter for the seccond coil ?? I will try to use an AC adapter for low voltage at the second coil. Etc 12 V for the first coil and 4-6 Volt for the second. So i think that the new high voltage on the spark being 14-16.000 Volt . I want to make my R1100 gs to gives up 8.000 rpn. I make new camshaft and new pistons, compress ratio up to 12:1, free air and exchaust.. Now by my old setup, with ratio 11:1 and camshaft from r1100s, the engine gives until 7.500 rpn and i think the power could be continue up to 8.000 rpn. So i need more compres ratio, more fuel, dual pin plug sparks. The dual sparks is this one (NGK BKR6EK) and work fine on R1100GS :
I am having some trouble tunning a 1150GSA, 2003, servo model. No matter what I do, the spark plugs are white. The bike came without a CCP. I installed a jumper wire like this - http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ5fPFVlaKjuRMlmDr9dp2IrBdvLC1RXwh_vWpAxre_JSm-KT2RwA That did not change anything, as the spark plugs are still white. The bike now feels a little like powerless. It pulls, but it does not feel as a regular 1150GSA. I did run a diagnose on the GS911 and I can see that the graph for the O2 sensor looks normal, like /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\//\/\/\. Perhaps it is a little lazy, meaning that it does not update as often as it should, but it stays in the green zone. I have also changed the fuel filter. Sadly, I do not have tools to measure the gas pressure between the FPR and injectors. That is a nice to have tool and I plan to get it soon, but I do not have it now... Any ideas on what is wrong ans the mixture is too lean? The GS911 shows the Motronic version as 4. Dan.
What I did was to take the injectors and lambda probe for ultrasound cleaning. Also, I got myself an almost new cat, that I am going to replace. I hope I can make the swap today and I will see how that goes... Dan.
I think you're using the wrong Cat Code Jumper (CCP) positions. The image you posted is one of the jumper positions used with an aftermarket EPROM. Check out the factory CCP positions, and the Steptoe jumper. People use the Steptoe jumper positions of 30 and 87a for the R1150 with Motronic 2.4 ECU. The factory Cat Code Plug jumper positions. The jumper positions for an aftermarket Motronic EPROM chip. Possibly the BBPower chip. The Steptoe jumper. <BR>
