I was having a lot of trouble with my stock relay. I switched to this one:
    Tridon/Hazard Warning Flasher

    Part Number:
    EL12

Its sold off the shelf at most Autozones for $9.99. I did not have to modify anything with stock bulbs or connectors. Plug n play!

I've found a great deal on a set of xt 350 wheels. They rims are the exact same model and size as is on my XR650L. Does anyone know what size axles the XT350 uses? I'm kinda hoping to be able to use these as a 2nd set on the Honda without major modification.

Yea I saw them too. :D I would be worried about the rotor and sprocket placement. If you want you can ride the XR down here one evening and put the bikes side by side and wrench away to see if it will work. PM if interested.

    OR

You could just buy them and if they don't work I will make sure they find a good home and will not charge you disposal fees. :lol3 :lol3

On a serious note I have an XRL front rim with rotor you can buy. Needs to be trued a bit. I used it as my dirt rim on my old XRL.

The guy is out of town, but I'm meeting him Tuesday to look at those wheels. I'll probably just take the wheels off my XRL and take them with me to compare side by side.

Hello all. I have had my XT350 for about a month and have taken it on some short (10-30) mile rides. It has done well, for the most part.

I took it on a longer ride about 100 miles but it didn't make it the last 5 to the house.

I did about 70 miles or nice desert dirt road type stuff and the bike ran great and had no issues. I stopped a few times. It started up fine every time.

The route i took was over the top of a 8500 ft. mountain. At about 6500 ft or so the bike started to run roughly. Some backfiring, inconsistent power. It got worse as i got to the summit of the mnt.

I assumed the carbs aren't tuned right and were being effected by the altitude. I road over the top and back down the other side thinking it would clear up as i got lower. I stopped at about 6000 feet and had a heck of a time getting it to restart. 10 minutes or so of kicking on and off.

I road it the rest of the way backfiring and power surging and just running like crap.

once i got to a stop sign back in town it died and i couldn't get it restarted. had to get a ride back home and came back to get it with my truck.

I haven't dug into it yet to see what might be the problem.

Any ideas? Suggestions what to look for?

I am thinking maybe spark plug. I was going to pull that but it used a different size spark plug socket then everything else i have. Anyone know what size it uses?

Maybe the rubber intake boots are bad. I don't know.

Had a wonderful time on the ride, just a little frustrating toward the end.

    Is the air filter clean?

For the spark plug you will want a 18 mm spanner

You said you ran about 70 miles of nice desert dirt road, that's enough to block the small filter the XT350 uses. Please, check it. FYI the land where I use to run is literally a desert, and I clean my filter with petroleum every ride. And don't forget to oil it with a good oil for foam air filters. BTW, I use a UNI filter as well

I had the XR650L give me fits at higher altitudes. I found that when I got high that I had to pull off the air box cover to get more air to the carb. When I came back down just put it back on and all was well. Bike idled high above 5000ft too.

    Hi Mates!

I started hearing some humming noise at the 6th gear, when accelerating.
Checked old pics of my gears and saw that my 6th gears
    has rough surfaces on teeth.
    :becca

I wonder if i should be concerned seriously about this.

Will they make noise only or will cause more complicated problems immediately?

    Best wishes,

    SKY

I like the Tusk Aluminimbars sold by Rocky Mountain ATV/MC. I use the KX high bend. $28 a piece. Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

They also sell Tusk branded aluminum handguards that work like a champ for $30. I then add a set of MSR or Cycra plastic sheilds to them.

I ran my '93 XT up above timberline and back in CO all the time, and never had a problem once I got back down to lower elevations. My only guesses that would be caused by an altitude change would be that it was running rich enough when you were up high to partially foul the plug, and it never cleared completely, or that the fuel tank vented out on the acsent, but not back in on the descent, and it somehow vapor locked. Did it start if you removed the fuel tank cap? Otherwsie, I would think the problem is not related to the altitude change.

That kind of wear on the teeth looks almost like one of two things.
    1. Its been sitting underwater,
    2. electrolysis
    Its toast anyway.
Time to replace the gears. :cry

    On a separate note:

Does anyone know where to source a braided stainless brake line?
How about converting the front to a dual piston caliper?
