Hi Willie. Wish you were here buddy!
So I'm back to the Chiricahua national park for a 2nd day. It is spectacular.:wings
The Heart Of Rocks trail I want to do will take a minimum of 4 hours. Total distance is about 8 miles.
I did'nt want to start too early as it was below freezing.:vardy I wanted it to warm up a little and the snow to soften up.
Got started on the trail ~ 11:30 & it would be dark by 5:30 so I figured 6 hrs should be plenty.

    Humph!
This balanced rock is much bigger than it looks & is way high up. I had to go full zoom up thru the trees to shoot it.

It is a great view isn't it. I could stare at this for ages.

    Alien?
    What a pair?
    Yah, I like it too!

    A Very peaceful Place:huh
    [IMG]

I was enjoying this trail so much & did not have a watch on, but suddenly realised at one point it must be getting late. I needed to get out of there before dark as I did not have a flashlite.

Last mile of the trail was uphill & now I'm having to run if to make it out B4 dark.
Getting darker & harder to see now.
Oh yes the parking lot! Suzi waiting for me:raabia
    [IMG]
Phew, made it back. What a day. What a place.:jump
    [IMG]

Hey, thanks for the comments guys, err mostly that is.:arg :rolleyes :rad
Visted the Cochise Stronghold Friday. Cochise was a famous Apache Indian chief who believed the white man & Chiricahua Apaches could live in peace. Based on untrue accusations against, him tragedy followed and a battle that lasted years broke out. Cochise was never actually conquered in battle and after 11 years he came to terms with the white man &lived his remaining 2 years in peace. He was secretly buried somewhere in his stronghold.
    A Beautiful and amazing place.

Thombstone is just the otherside of the Cochise Stronghold. :2guns :gun1 :pep :pope :amazonLove those smilees! No :topes

Stayed here. Thought it was appropriate.:ricky
    [IMG]
I had planned to go to Bisbee but as it was friday I thought Thombstone might be a fun place on a weekend.:dutch :strum :rilla
Gonna be a parade Saturday nite.

Had a great time in Big Nosed Kates Saloon Friday nite, great 2 man band. Met some cool people. Then went to a
Kareoke bar after, till 2am. Fun!:wings
After breakfast saturday morning spotted this adventurous looking character. Real nice guy. Rex from Wyoming on an 83 BMW R100.
Tried his bike. It was pretty cool.:ricky
    [IMG]
We went for a dual sport ride up the back side of the Cochise stronghold. Quite a knarley trail.
Rex was camped out on the the other side. He took off & I explored on the way back to Tombstone.
Met some girls along the trail.:lol3
    [IMG]
Interestingly in my travels I have found cows to be very friendly curious animals. Interesting! No:topes
    [IMG]
Quite a friendly old girl actually.:getiton
    [IMG]
The mountains were beautifully lit now with the sun heading down.

Got back into town in time for a nitetime parade. Most of the pics in the dark were not good but here is one of the
locals in the parade who rides an Iron Horse with his parrot riding shotgun on his shoulder.
Met a lot of the locals who were all dressed up in period costumes. Nice folk.
    Judy.
Lively crowd 2 steppin to the Band at Big nosed Kates.:drums :strum :rilla
    [IMG]
Joanne & Betty Davis. A coupla real nice gals who tied to teach me how to 2 step. It was a lot of fun but I seem
    to have 2 left feet!
Big Nosed Kates closed about midnite but partying carried on at the Crytal Palace. I met Up a character named Doc
Holliday shot a round o pool with him. I won. 2 other guys challenged me & I won both those games as well. Then
nobody else wanted to play me. Well they had a good band playing as well so I hung out there till it closed at 2am
then went to the Kareoke bar till some time after 3 when I was ready to pass out & had to leave. Don't think that
    place had a closing time!
    Fun place!

It's getting near the end of this trip now. Gotta fly home out of Vegas Tuesday.
However today I am riding up to the southernmost Ski area in North America. Mount Lemmon.
    Just NE of Tucson.
This time unfortunately I did not have my ski gear with me as in this previous pic of a couple years ago. Did
    anyone see that report?

On My way to Vegas, can't remember the name of the town but still in Arizona I stopped for gas & was lubing my chain. I spot this guy, looked like a homeless, I try not to look directly at him but soon notice he's actually chained to a log, Huh???:huh Well he's also not really moving at all yet has his eyes wide open??? [IMG]
Oh he's just a DUMMY! No, really. It's a very realistic display. Cool!
This guy is chained to this tree and it is a depiction of a storey which is playable right there. There is a push button & it relates a storey of back in the 1800's gold rush era. There were so many outlaws:gun1 & such & not nearly enough jails. So they started chaining people to this tree. This guy was in a bar one nite, got drunk and wild got himself arrested.:ymca They went to chain him to the tree but it was full. So they chained him to this log. Come morning he starts begging asking for a drink, booze. When nobody will get him any he pick up, drags this huge log to the local saloon to make his demand.:slurp Hey this is the Wild West!!!:gun1
    [IMG]
Got to Vegas. Got Suzi her own room, 0 star, she ain't fussy, only $29/mth.
I spent the nite at the Flamingo for only $40.
Got up with the sun & great view from the full glass wall.
Courtyard in the back is beautiful
    [IMG]

Wild Burrow out in the desert.

Trying to make a loop we went down a sand trail with 3 ft woops that just kept coming. It was exhausting (well for me at least)& we finally turned around
since we didn't know how long they would continue. By the time we got back out I was totally exhausted.
It was also now nearing dark and the only safe choice we had was to go back the same way we had come in. There was no way Mike could make it back on his
current gas, so he used the hose from his camel back and got some from my tank b4 it got dark.
His huge headlights were awsome in the dark & luckily we made it back with the gas we had.:thumb
Tomorrow we head for Gonzaga Bay.:rayof
