    DAY 3
While miles above the Budget Inn, Hotel 6 is far below the bar set by Best Western in Murphy. What kind of a Hotel dosent have Kleenex in the room? No shampoo? Good thing I stole the leftovers from Best Western!
As tired as I was, sleep did not come early. I woke up feeling a little groggy but determined to make up some miles.
First order of business was to see if I could save some moola while expanding my list of friends. I hit the Free Tent Space thead on Adv. Looking to fine a place in PA, I contacted MXRNPA and left a PM, hoping to get in contact later when I found some wifi.
Knowing I had a long ride ahead I decided to fuel up at Cracker Barrel restaurant. Nice restaurant, though its in an odd location, off the main road on top of a hill.

Easily the best breakfast of the trip!
Weather issues remain as I watch my bike take a shower while eating.

Time to hit the road. On to I81 & head north. Bike has no issues maintaining 80 mi/hr and I start to eat up miles into a serious headwind.
One side effect if this is significantly reduced fuel economy. I had gotten over 110 miles before the low fuel light, but today it came on with a little as 77. :what:

    Bob,
Awesome trip so far. I also live in Ontario and have often (almost daily) thought of doing fly n rides from the US... but... what did you do about licensing and plating the bike?

I did buy my current bike in North Carolina but trailered it home. The border process was fairly easy, like many government things - just smile often and be patient, you will get through. You did fax a copy of the title to US customs, didn't you?:deal

Good luck with the ride and importation. Nice looking BMer, hope you get the clutch worked out.

I did a Fly and Ride in 2010 and rode back my new-to-me 2008 GSA from Winchester, KY to Victoria, BC. Perfect opportunity to get acquainted with the new bike during the 5000 km ride:clap:clap

Thanks for update on info Bob. I knew you could temp inure, just wasn't sure how the plates part would work out.

Glad to hear you had no issues at the border, mine went well also.

Hope you are not in Algonquin right now... brrr, little on the chilly side. Just so happens that canoeing there is one of my other favourite hobbies.

Have fun, catch lots of trout!

The park is not nearly as much fun in those conditions, fishing likely wasn't very good either. Too bad.

Did you get a chance to look into the clutch issue?

Maybe you should say a little prayer too - it's likely to help as much as the oil change will. :lol3

Are you going to be able to ride in the Roaming Rally if it's still not releasing the clutch properly? You may want to look into it asap before it's too late.

    Hey Mike!
    Oil change worked for Jeffs.
If not, it ain't gonna get fixed. I'm flat broke and still have to get Insurance since I WAS with Jevco...
Made it from GA to here so I should be able to drive it. Just can't get into neutral;)

The reason I mention it is that that kind of problem causes the clutch plates to heat up and wear out much faster than normal, often warping the metal plates which you don't normally need to replace when you change your friction plates.

If you're not worried about that then I won't mention it again. :freaky

Rain and I are playing "follow the leader". Every time I get ahead of the rain, my gas light comes on and I have to stop. Clouds catch up at these times.
Gas stops are becoming very frustrating...

Get a X-Tank. And if you still have a stock seat, get a Seat Concepts seat.
Two amazing changes to the XC.
Are you still doing a RR on your trip home from buying the bike?

Just kidding. Now is a good time to be riding.

Really hate the"pay in advance" system for gas. Its a real PITA!! Especially with a Canadian bank card and credit card that won't allow me to pay at the pump.
Glad we don't do this at home.
