I didn't do to much dirt, but check out the ride report I did about my ride to Santa Fe last summer for ideas (link is in my signature line). Also, the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route might be a good option for you as well.

What do you guys have for gloves and why do you like 'em?
I keep looking and looking and the only thing I've come to realize is you can spend anywhere from $30 to $250....my current top 3:

I have a pair of Held gauntlet style all leather gloves that are now over ten years old and still in excellent condition. The only issue is that they have lost some color. I paid $200 for them back in 2003, and have no regrets.

I can't say what the quality is like on the ones you list above. Kilms are probably overpriced, like all their shit, and thet Tourmasters are probably a good middle of the road quality.

all mx style moto gloves suck IMO.

I recently bought some leather gauntlet gloves from a company based out of Oregon for $40 and they are excellent. They are not motorcycle gloves but the guy custom made the extra gauntlet part after I called him and asked what I wanted the gloves for.

If I had to do it again I'd get the Elkskin Ropers from Aerostich which is actually the type of glove i was after in the first place but me being a cheap bastid I wanted to try something even cheaper. :D

Do the Elkskin Ropers come with a tassle option off the sides? I need a pair to match my riding jacket.

Anybody savvy in hard drive recovery? beyond the typical CHKDSK /R....my laptop crashed and I have an adapter and the drive is recognized but fails various tests....not worth sending to the pro's for big $$$ but if anyone has any tips or tricks to recover data I'd appreciate it....
